I always loved the stories of John McCain's too-many-to-count homes during the 2008 election. Mitt Romney looks like he's destined to follow in McCain's real estate footprints.
Romney owns a modest 3000 square foot home in Southern California. Where in SoCal, you ask? In La Jolla — oceanfront property. He bought it for $12 million. He wants more home: 11,062 square feet, to be exact. So he's planning a teardown and rebuild — after the presidential elections, of course.
Someone needs to ask Mr. Goodhair — maybe Mr. Goodhome is more appropriate for this post — how many homes he owns. Here's a possible answer from Steve Benen at Washington Monthly.
Romney also has a $10 million home in New Hampshire. A little cursory searching this morning also turned up Romney’s townhouse in Belmont, Mass., and a nearby mansion, where one of Romney’s sons lives, and where Romney was registered to vote as recently as last year. There was also the $5 million ski-house in an exclusive area in Utah, but he sold it last year.
Not bad for a guy who jokes about being “unemployed.”
You better study up on this one, Mitt. Someone's gonna ask you. Which is better, to admit you're unspeakably rich, or unspeakably rich and clueless to boot?
