Update on Funerals for Christina Green and Judge John Roll

Thankfully Fred Phelps' church of hate will not be disrupting these funerals. Church gives up protest plans, gets radio airtime.

The funerals are, however, expected to attract many Tucsonans who want to pay their respects. St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church is not a particularly large church, and I would hope that you respect the members of the parish of whom Christina Green and John Roll were members to celebrate their lives and to say goodbye to their fellow parishoners. Their friends, relatives and parish family should take priority.

There will be traffic restrictions and security checkpoints in the area. The Arizona Daily Star reports Arrangements for Christina-Taylor, Judge Roll:

The funeral Mass will take place at 1 p.m. today at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 8650 N. Shannon Road, on the northwest side.

The family requests that no photographs or video be taken.

The largest flag recovered from ground zero after the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center may be on its way to Tucson to be displayed at the funeral of Christina-Taylor Green who was born that day. Ground zero flag may be on display at funeral today.

U.S. District Judge John M. Roll

Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. today, with a rosary at 6 p.m., at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 5150 N. Valley View Road, in the Catalina Foothills.

The funeral Mass will take place at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 8650 N. Shannon Road, on the northwest side.

For the funeral, the Pima County Sheriff's Department and the U.S. Marshals Service say:

• North Shannon Road will be closed in front of the church, with security checkpoints and screenings for all vehicles and attendees.

• All adult attendees will be required to show identification at the vehicle checkpoints.

• Attendees will be subject to security screenings, which will include magnetometers and other methods.

• No photography or audio or video recording will be permitted inside the church.

The funeral will be followed by a private burial.
