Update: The GOP war on public employees

Posted by AzBlueMeanie:

The "lamestream" corporate media continues to lay down a barrage of cannon fire to soften up the battle field for the GOP war on public employees. The echo chamber is building so fast I an having trouble keeping up with it all.

Here are two recent reports you may have missed. States Seek Laws to Curb Power of Unions – NYTimes.com ("Faced with growing budget deficits and restive taxpayers, elected officials from Maine to Alabama, Ohio to Arizona, are pushing new legislation to limit the power of labor unions, particularly those representing government workers, in collective bargaining and politics."), and the Washington Post, Recession-bruised states' revenue sank 30 percent in 2009, Census Bureau reports ("The severe drop in revenue resulted largely from the big investment losses experienced by state pension funds during the worst period of the downturn.")

At a time when corporations are enjoying their highest profits in the past 60 years, and the banksters of Wall Street are collecting record bonuses (after being bailed out by the taxpayers) at a time of high unemployment, The GOP and its allies in the corporate media are bent on demonizing public employees, particularly those who belong to public employee unions. This is like the robber blaming his victim for a mugging.

Brave New Foundation is out with a new video,"Stop The Lies: Wall Street v. Main Street," that dispels the demonization by the "lamestream" corporate media on behalf of the GOP assault on public employees.
