Incumbent Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos (D) is being challenged by Deputy Sheriff Lt. Heather Lappin (R), who is a Training Sector Commander at the Pima County Jail.
Lappin was recently suspended by Sheriff Nanos on Oct. 14:

Nanos was appointed to this seat as Sheriff by the Pima County Board of Supervisors back in August, 2015, but lost his election bid to Republican Mark Napier in Nov. 2016 (44.07% to 55.66%).
In a rematch in Nov. 2020, Nanos defeated Sheriff Napier (50.34% to 49.66%), and is now running for re-election in the General Election.
Nanos defeated former Deputy Sheriff Sandy Rosenthal in the Democratic Primary on July 30, 2024 (59.99% to 40.01%).
