Watch LWVGT videos of Tucson City Council Wards 3, 5, 6 candidate forums before August Primary

The League of Women Voters of Greater Tucson held three candidate forums for the Tucson City Council Wards 3, 5 and 6 races, prior to the City of Tucson’s August 5, 2025 Primary.

Ward 3 forum was held on June 21 at the Flowing Wells library: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jeVoOh20WHA&t=8s

Candidates at this forum were incumbent Kevin Dahl (D), Sadie Shaw (D), Janet Wittenbraker (R). Dahl is serving his first term on the Council, having been elected in Nov. 2021.

Ward 5 forum was held on June 26 at the Valencia library: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Si5Y8KWTow4

Candidates at this forum were both Democrats: Selina Barajas (D), and Chris Elsner (D). Jesse Lugo (D) did not participate due to a health issue. Appointed Ward 5 incumbent Councilman Rocque Perez II (D) is only a place holder, not running for election.

Ward 6 forum was held on July 1 at the Martha Cooper library: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aBQyD3u0_qs

Candidates at this forum were Leighton Rockefellow Jr. (D), Miranda Schubert (D), Jim Sinex (D), Jay Tolkoff (R). Appointed Ward 6 incumbent Councilwoman Karin Uhlich(D) is only a place holder, not running for election.

There is a Primary for the Democrats in Wards 3 and 6, and the winners will face off with the Republican candidates in the General Election on Nov. 4 , 2025. There are only Dems running in Ward 5 so the primary will determine the outcome. There are no Green, Independent. Libertarian or No Labels candidates in these races.

Vote wisely on or before August 5. Early ballots go out on July 9.
