In perhaps one of the biggest political gaffes/whoppers of recent American History, Musk/Trump/Vance Commerce Secretary and out-of-touch billionaire Howard Lutnick, the MAGA official who broke the law a couple of days before when he told people to buy Musk’s Tesla stock, said during a podcast that senior citizens would be okay if their next Social Security payment did not arrive.
Below is exactly what he said:
“Let’s say Social Security didn’t send out their checks this month. My mother-in-law, who’s 94, wouldn’t call and complain. She just wouldn’t. She’d think something got messed up and she’ll get it next month. A fraudster always makes the loudest noise screaming, yelling, and complaining…”
Newsflash to the Commerce Secretary ass. The reason your mother-in-law is not going to complain is because her first call will be to you to borrow money to tide her over for the month if she does not already have the savings herself.
WTF!
My 78-year-old father and 77-year-old mother who depend on their social security payments to pay for the roof over their head had a slightly different take on the Commerce Secretary’s idiotic perspective.
“F–k you goes without saying.”
“Out of his mind.”
“Delusional.”
“Out of touch with reality.”
“Seniors want him to pay his bills.”
“How many millions does his mother have?”
“Seniors should send their mortgage payment notices to Congress.”
In addition to Lutnick’s out-of-touch-with-reality comments, seniors on Social Security had another scare last week when the Social Security acting director Leland Dudek, whining that the courts would not allow Musk and DOGE access to the systems database, warned that he would shut the whole system down.
He backtracked after the political uproar that followed his MAGA knee-jerk response.
Reacting on social media to Lutnick’s asinine thoughts, Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes wrote:
Arizona Representative Yassamin Ansari recently released a post highlighting that 44 percent of her constituents are worried about how cuts to Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid would most hurt them.
With people like Commerce Secretary Lutnick making his out-of-touch remarks and Elon ‘I like Eugenics’ Musk calling Social Security “a Ponzi Scheme” and shutting down Social Security offices and services, they have a right to be worried.
