Perfect. Now how do we get it on the air?
Btw: who is that woman. She is absolutely adorable.
Liza, now you warn me not to read the comments! Just kidding, I don’t think all Tusconans are as meanspirited as those comments suggested but I did find those comments pretty darned awful!
Francine,
I don’t recommend reading Star comments. I really do not believe they are representative of Tucson. It seems to be a particularly rabid little group of people who comment on Star articles.
Excuse me, but I was at that JCC forum and I heard Gabby say that she did not support impeachment because it would be a distraction from work they needed to do and legislation they could pass to impeach a president – and, for me, this was the key phrase – to impeach a president who had 18 months to serve and could not be re-elected. Nowhere did I hear her say her hands were tied.
Now, you may or may not agree with her stand on the issue, but please quote her correctly – it makes a great deal of difference. Myself, I’d like to see him impeached but I think that massive oversight hearings about where are the arms that are missing? what happened to the $$$$ spent on no-bid contracts? and other such like OVERSIGHT hearings will provide more information than a highly divisive impeachment hearing which will tie up the Congress.
I was also very impressed by Gabby’s success in getting the Tucson Palestinian family out of the diplomatic mess they were in and back to their homes here, in Tucson. I read through some of he comments to the Star article and was disgusted by the meanspiritedness those comments displayed.
Please don’t flame me for my opinions – let’s provide an example here on how people can differ, with civility.
Politics is just a way for ugly people to be celebrities. I believe it was Chris Rock who said that.
Maybe that’s all there is to it. They are just average people of average intelligence and maybe a little below average character, but they are not attractive enough for TV or the movies yet they want to be famous.
Here we are thinking they can save what is left of our democracy and all they ever really wanted to do was to get their mugs on TV.
This video is perfect.
On the same subject: I saw Gabby speak again, at the Jewish Community Center. Most of the talk was about her recent trip to Israel, but a number of questions concerned how the lack of respect for the U.S. has made us ineffectual in world matters. Toward the end one woman said if that is indeed the case, why doesn’t Gabby support impeachment? The question drew strong applause from the audience, and once again Gabby deferred. She gave the same weak answer she gave at Drinking Liberally; my hands are tied, it would be a distraction, etc.
What happened to the backbones of our elected officials? Where are the Howard Bakers and Peter Rodinos and Sam Ervins?
