Remember how the American right seized upon the "Miracle on Ice" in 1980 when a ragtag U.S. hockey team defeated the World Champion Soviet Union team and went on to win the gold medal at the Lake Placid, N.Y. Winter Olympics? Fans waved American flags and chanted "USA! USA! USA!" America was back baby, and flag waving patriotism was in fashion.
Ever since, the American right has been wrapping itself in the flag and chanting "USA! USA! USA!" not just at Olympic sporting events, but in support of the Gulf War (1991), post 9/11 and the war in Afghanistan (2001-), and the Iraq War (2003-). It occurs at almost every political rally and Republican National Convention. The American right would have us believe that they exclusively own the flag and patriotism.
The American right routinely questioned the patriotism and loyalty of any American who questioned the Iraq War or questioned the policies of George W. Bush. "You're supporting the terrorists and giving aid and comfort to the enemy of America" critics were told. They even boycotted the Dixie Chicks, remember that? The clowns of talk radio and Faux News deemed themselves the arbiters of who was a "real" American.
So it is unbelievably hypocrital and arrogant that these very same self-appointed arbiters of who is a "real" American have been promoting sedition and secession – and even a military coup this week – against their own government. They have been the cheerleaders rooting against America in its bid for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Chicago.

"Real" Americans do not behave this way. The American right has gone completely f#?king insane on the poisonous bile being spewed daily by the clowns of talk radio and Faux News. Now it is acceptable to hope that America fails and to root against your own country? Bullshit! These self appointed arbiters of who is a "real" American can check their flag and their patriotism at the door. Their anti-American, un-American, unpatriotic rhetoric has exposed them for what they really are – sick, hateful individuals who will sell poison for their "entertainment." They disgust me. And they are destroying this country.

Vietnam was the failure of a cynical Richard Nixon who kept the war going for six years after he was elected on the promise to end the war. You of course will blame the Congress, but the vote to end funding for the war was a bipartisan vote with a majority of both Democrats and Republicans in favor. A majority of Americans supported ending the war in polling at the time. Saigon fell under Gerald Ford.
Afghanistan has been FUBAR since George W. Bush decided to fight an unnecessary war of choice in Iraq based upon bogus intelligence. He allowed the enemy to escape at Tora Bora into Pakistan and took his eyes off the prize in Afghanistan. Obama has to correct 8 years of GWB f#?k-up in Afghanistan; it’s going to take more than a few months to correct the damage done. No military force in the history of man has been able to pacify Afghanistan – it is where empires go to die. Something that American hubris does not allow us to acknowledge.
The America right latches onto symbols of patriotism, like the flag, rather than actually practice patriotism. Your flag pin nonsense is an example of this. BTW, Sen. John McCain rarely ever wears a flag pin either.
When GWB took office, the national debt was $5.3 trillion and declining, and we had a budget surplus. GWB immediately added $3.2 trillion to the national debt with two tax cuts to corporations and the super-wealthy (tax cuts which did not benefit you). He added another $1.3 trillion (and climbing) to the national debt with his bogus war of choice in Iraq. The failure of Republican economic theory over the past 30 years (continued under Bill Clinton) resulted in the near collapse of our financial and economic systems when the “false economy” bubble burst. This required another $1 trillion or more to restore liquidity to the financial system, the TARP enacted under George W. Bush. With the added loss of revenue due to the worst economic recession since the Great Depression, the national debt was approximately $11 trillion dollars when GWB left office – he doubled the national debt after nearly destroying our economy.
An economy in free-fall requires government intervention to restore lending and spending to prime the economic pump (stimulus). This is the lesson learned from the Great Depression. Not that either one of you demonstrates any knowledge of economic theory, or reality.
The Senate was nearly evenly divided until the election of 2008. (Sen. Joe Lieberman could have caucused with the Republicans over the war, giving them control of the Senate). Republicans retained the ability to obstruct the Democrats in the Senate and to give George W. Bush whatever he wanted. Our own Sen. Obstruction, Jon Kyl, did just that. So no, the Democrats have not been in charge since 2006 – only since January 2009.
The only people yelling “Nazi” and carrying posters of Obama as Hitler are those on the American right, and yes, that is inspired by their blind hatred. No one in the White House has called your ignorant ass a Nazi.
Simply repeating the litany of the right-wing talking points you hear on talk radio and Faux News every day just demonstates my point, and yes papatodd2010, you do come across as a complete asshole. My “hope” is that ignorant people like the two of you will soon crawl back under the rock from which they came and no longer be the darlings of a corrupt news media.

So let me get this straight, We have a $13 Trillion deficit, GM and Chrysler FUBAR, Unemployment at record highs, forclosures at record highs, troops being killed at record numbers, a falling dollar, federal budget ballooning, immigration out of control, a former president calling my family racists, zero jobs being created, ahealth care debaacle that the majority of America soesn;t want, 33 unvetted czars, my kids being forced to chant to OBama in schools, Obama giving the finger to Tibet, Obama gives the finger to his generals, and yes he couldn’t bring home the Olympics and the list goes on and somehow I’M still the A__Hole. Well that’s just about what I expect out of you, Mr Meanie. Hey how IS that hope and change working out for you?
