(UPDATED) Will Kamala Harris Pick the Candidate with the Right Stuff as Her Vice President

As the Democratic Veepstakes are in full swing around the Harris for President Campaign, a lot of speculation has surrounded the possibility of Navy Captain, Astronaut, and Arizona Senator Mark Kelly joining the ticket.

The question is, will Vice President Kamala Harris pick the candidate with the Right Stuff to be her running mate.

Senator Kelly checks off a lot of boxes for a potential Vice President.

He is a Senator from a battleground state.

If picked, he would probably bring Arizona across the finish line for Democrats in November. He has already demonstrated that he could win the Grand Canyon state in his two Senate Campaigns, pulling in many Independent and centrist Republicans.

The Arizona Democratic Party is firmly in the Kelly camp in Veepstakes with Party Chairperson Yolanda Bejarano stating:

“Senator Kelly has been a champion for Arizonans, engaging them in the path towards building a better Arizona and creating a strong and diverse coalition along the way. Senator Kelly is exactly the type of leader Arizonans want and America needs. The path to the White House runs through Arizona, and we are confident that with Kamala Harris and Mark Kelly at the top of the ticket, Democrats will win in November.”

His biography, A-type personality, and stature could also appeal to next-door Nevada and swing voters (mainly white males) in the Blue Wall states (Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin,) North Carolina, Georgia, and perhaps other states that, given the weakness of the Trump/Vance ticket, like Florida, Ohio, and even, dare say Texas.

His wife and political partner, former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords, have a compelling love story that includes their dealing with the tragic attempted assassination attempt on her in 2011 and her brave recovery.

He comes from a border state and could help counter the Republican lies and misinformation campaign on border security.

He, like other aspiring Vice President candidates, has been in high demand on the news channels. Below is a link to a clip from yesterday showing Senator Kelly going after Vance on his stance that rape victims should be made to carry their pregnancies to full term.

Kelly also voiced his concerns about what a Trump/Vance Agenda, with their radical Handmaid Tale/Project 2025 agenda, may mean for the country.

He also took issue with Vance’s contention that women who did not have children of their own are somehow lesser human beings and should not have as much of a say in public policy, posting on X:

Imagine Senator Kelly tearing into Mr. Vance, a person who has said women should stay in abusive marriages at a Vice Presidential Debate.

It should also be noted that Mr. Vance’s stance on women having babies is very similar to Nazi and Fascist doctrine that encouraged women (at least the ones they approved of) to have as many babies as possible.

A man with the Right Stuff, Kelly would be a good partner for President Kamala Harris.

Unlike Vance, the American People would not panic and fear for their civil liberties if the situation called for him to rise to the top job.

Senator Mark Kelly would be a stellar addition to the Harris for President Campaign.

  1. My guess is that she’ll pick a governor from an Eastern swing state, and he’s not that. Also, most (though not all) tickets have DC insider/outsider dynamic, and as a sitting senator, he checks many of the same boxes as Harris.

I think that he’s a good EO and man, but VP isn’t going to happen.
