Our own Daniel Hernandez (Gabby's intern) throwing out the first pitch at a Washington Nationals game with also-our-own Amanda Simpson — "the first openly transgender presidential appointee" — in attendance?
This is just the kind of moment I need when I get into one of those ain't-it-awful funks.
The occasion was Gay Night at the ballpark.
Hernandez's statement:
“This is probably the most nerve-racking thing I've done in a while,” Hernandez said of the pitch, which capped off an incredible journey from intern to national hero. “This is gonna go away soon. And I think realizing that, and doing what you can to help others is the important part.”
For sports fans: the Nationals beat the Mariners 6-5.
