11 Years blogging at B4AZ

Well, it’s now 11 years since I started blogging here at Blog for Arizona. Most of us don’t care about the current political situation with the return of Republican President Donald Trump. It’s going to be a challenging four years or more.

Stay tuned for a lot of push back from the Democrats across the nation and here in the purple 48th state of Arizona. This state is celebrating it’s 113th birthday this Friday, Valentine’s Day 2025.

Although I much rather spend time in my blue home state of Hawaii, the 50th state, I do care about Arizona. My husband and I (and toddler son) arrived here in July 1987, a very hot month. And we’ve been here ever since although our son has relocated to the cooler, blue state of Washington.

So, anyway, let us get over the shock of the return of the Trump Administration, and continue to persevere in promoting progressive values and events. Check out the B4AZ Calendar, which I have been running since I joined on here 11 years ago: https://blogforarizona.net/events/

I’ll be following the Tucson City Council races this year (Ward 3, 5 and 6 are up for election, and the primary is on August 5, 2025, with open seats in Ward 5 and 6.) Ward 5 Councilman Richard Fimbres (D) is retiring, and the Ward 6 seat is held by place holder, fomer Ward 3 Councilmember Karin Uhlich (D), appointed in May 2024. Ward 3 Councilman Kevin Dahl (D) is running for re-elecion. Deadline for nomination petitions is April 7, so we’ll know then who’s actually running.

Stay tuned for the Special City of Tucson election in a month (March 11) to vote on Prop 414, the so-called Safe & Vibrant City proposition for a half cent sales tax increase for 10 years. Opposition seems to be growing as early ballots go out tomorrow.

And Happy Near Year of the Snake, per our Asian zodiac.
