42 Percent

I have been kicking around this idea of a political science research project for years based upon the notion that 42 percent of the public is batshit crazy at any given time. An average of 42 percent of the public believes things that are demonstrably false and factually untrue.

If we were to examine polling data over a number of decades on comparable polling questions, which would have to be weighted for polling samples and other relevant factors, I am reasonably certain the average would be right around 42 percent. But no one is going to spend the time, effort and money to do this research.

Today's poll from Merrill/Morrison Institute was 42 percent in favor of the shameless shapeshifter and pathological liar, Willard "Mittens" Romney, which is just batshit crazy and reminded me of my theory.
