Action alert from the Arizona AFL-CIO:

Two bills being debated this week spell trouble for AZ working families and we need you to take action.  Today, the Senate Appropriations Committee will be debating Gov. Brewer’s personnel bill at 10AM, which would open the door to cronyism and hurt the services that keep our communities running.

Click here right now to take action online and tell your Senators to oppose this bill and all other attacks on firefighters, teachers and other public service workers.

On Wednesday, the House Appropriations Committee will take up a bill that would force jobless workers to be drug tested, a costly initiative that is not only is trying to solve a problem that doesn’t exist but, as the Huffington Post reported, would cause a huge tax hike for local small businesses.

After you send an email to your Senator asking them to oppose attacks on public workers, please call Representatives on the House Appropriations Committee and let them know that you oppose forcing jobless workers to take drug tests because it demeans them and their families and would increase taxes on small businesses.

Here is the information for the Representatives on the Committee:

Republican Members on Committee
Rep. John Fillmore: 602-926-3012
Rep. Tom Forese: 602-926-5168
Rep. Russ Jones: 602-926-3002
Rep. John Kavanagh:602-926-5170
Rep. Nancy McLain: 602-926-5051
Rep. Justin Olson: 602-926-5288
Rep. Michelle Ugenti: 602-926-4480
Rep. Steve Urie: 602-926-4136
Rep. Vic Williams: 602-926-5839

Democrats Members on Committee
Rep.  Lela Alston: 602-926-5829
Rep. Chad Campbell: 602-926-3026
Rep. Matt Heinz: 602-926-3424
Rep. Anna Tovar: 602-926-3392

Please take these two actions now:

1.    Click here to send an email to your Senator asking them to oppose Gov. Brewer’s personnel bill and any other bill that hurts firefighters, teachers and other public workers

2.    Call Representatives on the House Appropriations Committee to tell them to oppose costly measures to force jobless workers to take drug tests
