Are You Better Off Than You Were 2 Years Ago?

Ronald Reagan asked this question in 1980. The answer to the question in 2026 is HELL NO.

We don’t want murderous ICE agents with electric gloves and masks. They are badly trained outlaws who have deported 675,000 hard-working, tax-paying residents since 2025. It’s time to ABOLISH ICE.

We don’t want the stupid Iran War, which has killed 18 Americans and wounded 624, wasted $113.3 billion ($1,200 per household), and achieved nothing in six months. We were better off under Obama’s Iran nuclear deal.

8,000,000 Americans have lost their health insurance after Trump’s Big Ugly Bill cut $1 trillion in funding from Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act.

We don’t want the incredibly high cost of living. Under Trump tariffs , beef prices rose 16%, and coffee rose nearly 20%. We’re in a hissy-fit trade war with Canada. A typical three-bedroom Tucson house is selling for about $362,000 today. A gallon of regular gas is $4.54 today, up from $3.13 in 2025.

Public schools are closing — as many as 10 in Tucson — because of a lack of funding. Republicans in Arizona have stolen $1 billion from public schools and given it to church and private schools with ESA vouchers. Trump has sued colleges and universities, and made multiple attempts to control how public schools discuss diversity, equity, and inclusion. Trump has fired half the staff of the Department of Education (2,000 people) and cut grant programs.

Trump is trying to destroy freedom of the press by filing lawsuits demanding over $70 billion from the New York Times, Wall Street Journal , the Des Moines Register, BBC, ABC (which agreed to pay $16 million and issue an apology), CBS, CNN, journalist Bob Woodward, Rupert Murdoch, and the Pulitzer Board. It’s blatant intimidation of his critics — and Trump is not winning these anti-First Amendment cases.

Disease outbreaks have spread across the country. Trump withdrew vaccine recommendations for COVID-19, the flu, rotavirus, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, and bacterial meningitis. He allowed 3,134 measles outbreaks to spread in 47 states — even though the disease had been eliminated in 2000. Polio has returned to the USA primarily due to declining vaccination rates. The US is seeing Cyclosporiasis, salmonella and Covid-19 outbreaks.

Ignoring climate change, Trump has promoted oil, coal and other dirty fuels. Trump canceled the 2009 endangerment finding that underpins federal vehicle-emissions regulation. This summer the nation has seen rampant wildfires, flooding, tornadoes, winter storms and extreme heat.  Catastrophic flooding and winds up to 100 mph hit Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, and Kentucky this summer. Floods in Indianapolis reached record levels, leaving over 100,000 customers in Indianapolis without power and causing at least 7 deaths. Trump supports reviled data centers that guzzle water, power, and generate heat and noise.

Trump’s second-term program has made health care less secure, groceries and consumer goods more expensive, public schools and agencies less capable, immigrants more vulnerable, and the country less prepared for climate-driven risks—while prioritizing tax cuts and deregulation.
