Arizona Congressional Democratic Reaction to Trump Bombing Three Iran Nuclear Sites

Despite appearing to give diplomatic efforts a two week window, Donald Trump, (surprise surprise) went back on his word and ordered the bombing of three of Iran’s underground nuclear facilities with bunker busting bombs.

According to Trump, the strikes were successful.

While no one should feel sorry for the Iranian regime, a government that for decades has spread Anti American and Israelis venom while sponsoring repressive acts against their own people and numerous terrorist acts against Israel and other American allies, it is important to remember that the actions of the last week, including this evenings, are mostly as a result of Mr. Trump, with prodding from Israelis Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, tearing apart the five power nuclear agreement with the Iranians in 2018.

There is also the question of the imminent threat Iran’s nuclear capability posed. Mr. Netanyahu has been making the case for 30 years with the same message that Iran was weeks away from having nuclear weapon capability.

American Intelligence has maintained that the threat from Iran’s nuclear capacity was not imminent.

It is really scary that the people had a hand in creating this mess are the ones at the helm making life or death decisions for millions in three country’s.

What happens tomorrow, next month, next year, and ten years from now, especially given that Mr. Trump went back on his word on giving diplomacy a two week window, will determine if he made the right call fulfilling Netanyahu’s and his Neo Conservative American allies life long geopolitical dreams.

They were wrong on Iraq.

Time will tell whether they are right or wrong on Iran.

Expecting Iran to crawl to Geneva and accept an American and Israelis imposed diktat may be premature, naive, and foolhardy.

Arizona’s Congressional Democratic Delegation has voiced their views on Trumps bombing decision.

House Representative Yassamin Ansari posted on social media:

“Donald Trump illegally took military action against Iran—without congressional authorization—risking dragging us into another endless war. I am calling for an immediate emergency session of Congress to vote on the War Powers Resolution.”

House Representative Greg Stanton posted:

“I’m grateful to our service members tonight who carried out their missions with courage and competence, and I thank God for their safe return. I have many serious questions about the President’s decision tonight. He failed to present clear and compelling evidence or come to Congress for authorization. President Trump promised, “I’m not going to start a war,” and “Great nations do not fight endless wars.” That promise is now broken. This escalation risks dragging us into yet another endless war we cannot afford, and one that risks American lives. President Trump must immediately reassure the American people of how he will protect the safety of our troops and allies in the region, and move us toward de-escalation and ultimately peace.”

Senator Mark Kelly issued a statement that read:

“I know how difficult an operation like this is to pull off and thank our military members and intel community for their patriotism and professionalism.

“As a combat pilot, I’ve noticed that folks without combat experience are often the first to rush into dropping a bomb. I’m concerned about how President Trump and his administration made this decision to put pilots in harm’s way and our country on the edge of war with Iran.

“It will take time to see how successful these strikes were in degrading Iran’s nuclear capability. The next steps must be to work to contain this, deter Iran from retaliating and escalating further, and use every diplomatic tool possible to protect Americans and our interests, including preventing Iran from restarting their nuclear program.”

Senator Ruben Gallego posted:

“The American people do not want to be dragged into another endless war in the Middle East. I would know. I saw close friends die next to me serving as a Marine in a high-combat unit in Iraq. Each of these deaths was needless.    We have yet to see any evidence to prove that tonight’s strikes were necessary to protect U.S. national security. President Trump must immediately show why tonight’s strikes were necessary. Without that evidence, President Trump’s bombing of Iran risks the lives of Americans, both civilians at home and our servicemembers in the Middle East.    The President’s actions could escalate us into a war. We cannot repeat history and blindly march in to another faraway conflict that puts Americans’ lives at risk.”

  1. I get tired of seeing American politicians demonizing people who are brown in other countries. Anyone who doesn’t understand the Persians needs to begin reading and learning about how the US has engaged in coup after coup in this nations. Operation Ajax was perpetrated by our CIA and the UK where they overthrew the democratically elected leader of Iran. The US and UK has always done people in the Middle East dirty deeds for oil and other resources. Aristide in Haiti was also removed by the CIA. US hegemony has contiuned to create chaos throughout these nations for their own dominance benefit.

    • 1953 – CIA engineered coup topples democratically elected Mohammed Mossadegh at the behest of Big Oil as he wanted to nationalize Iran’s oil fields to benefit Iranians.

1953 – Shah Reza Pahlavi who terrorized Iranians with his SAVAK secret police who were funded and trained by said CIA is installed as ruler.

1979 – Shah dyanasty falls ushering in rule by religious fanatics. Which our domestic Christianists want to emulate, only in the name of a perverse image of Christ instead of a perverse image of Mohammad.

And now the Felonious Punk administration wants regime change installing the last Shah’s first born Reza Pahlavi.

To quote Pete Seeger “When will they ever learn…”

  2. If they aren’t drawing up Articles of Impeachment, I’m not interested. Trump is going to get many, many Americans killed.

    • Believe the Democrats will be drawing up the Articles but Speaker Moses will never allow them to come to the floor. Such a brave Christianist is he!

    • @Melissa –

I agree with you (completely), but such a move, if successful, would leave Vance as POTUS.

Which would be a frying pan/fire situation.
