AZ Freedom Riders leave PHX on Juneteenth Holiday Headed for Wash., D.C.

As a commemoration of the Freedom Riders of the 60’s civil rights movement, Arizona Freedom Riders left Phoenix on the first celebration of the Juneteenth holiday to push once again for voting rights legislation in Washington, D.C.

Four buses carrying almost 200 young and older Black, Latinx, White, middle class, poor, laborers and clergy of modern-day Freedom Riders; journeyed together to push for The John Lewis Voting Rights and the For the People Acts. Organized by UNITE HERE Local 11 and Black Voters Matter they gathered to support the “For the People Act” Freedom Ride 2021.
