Update to President Biden Makes Surprise Visit To Ukraine on First Anniversary Of The Russo-Ukraine War.
NBC News reports, Biden’s visit to Ukraine draws criticism from conservative House Republicans:
President Joe Biden’s surprise trip to Ukraine on Monday drew a variety of attacks from congressional MAGA Fascist Republicans who criticized his support for the war-torn country and accused him of neglecting issues back at home.
“You should be standing with East Palestine — an American town in your own country that needs your help,” tweeted [Coup Plotter co-conspirator and insurrectionist] Rep. Andy Biggs, R-Ariz, in a reference to the Ohio town where a train derailment and chemical leak this month caused thousands of people to be evacuated from their homes and raised environmental concerns.
And just what the hell is this Coup Plotter co-conspirator and insurrectionist, and Pro-Putin White Christian Nationalist talking about?
Joe Biden visiting Ukraine is a slap in the face to every American, especially the people of East Palestine, Ohio.
Ukraine is not our friend, and Russia is not our enemy.

America should withdraw all personnel and equipment from Ukraine or adjacent thereto. Congress has not authorized war there.
America should not send them one more cent to defend their border.

UPDATE: The Arizona Republic adds, “Eli Crane, who represents Arizona’s 2nd Congressional District, retweeted an article from the conservative news outlet Breitbart about Biden’s visit to Ukraine with the hashtag: “#americalast.”
Biden made a surprise visit to Ukraine in what the White House said was a show of support and solidarity for the country battling for its survival after Russian President Vladimir Putin invaded nearly a year ago. But Republicans sought to use the images to highlight their issues with Biden.
“When our border is in crisis, Joe Biden goes home to nap in Delaware. When Ohio burns with toxic chemicals, Biden’s admin says everything is fine. So on Presidents’ Day, I’m not surprised that Biden is ditching America for Ukraine. He ditched America’s interests since the start of his presidency. They can keep him!” [child sexual trafficker] Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., tweeted.
The President’s Day criticism, much of which came as Biden was still in the war zone, echoed Republicans who have accused Biden of neglecting the U.S. southern border and bearing some responsibility for the war in Ukraine.
In January, Biden visited the U.S.-Mexico border, where there has been an influx of migrants from Central America seeking asylum. Biden hasn’t visited the site of the Ohio trail derailment, but federal officials were on the ground within hours, and Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Michael Regan was in East Palestine last week [and again today. NBC News: EPA administrator orders Norfolk Southern to clean up Ohio train derailment site and pay all costs.}
“So it takes two years for Joe Biden @POTUS to visit the war zone he created at our southern border, but then he goes to see another war zone he created in Ukraine,” Rep. Greg Murphy, R-N.C., tweeted.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor “Q” Greene, R-Ga., who also tweeted a call Monday for parts of U.S. to secede, said the conflict has become a proxy war between the U.S. and China and should be ended immediately.
[“We need a national divorce. We need to separate by red states and blue states and shrink the federal government,” Greene, R-Ga., said in the tweet. “Everyone I talk to says this. From the sick and disgusting woke culture issues shoved down our throats to the Democrat’s traitorous America Last policies, we are done.”]
“The U.S. support for war in Ukraine has been like a U.S. proxy war with Russia. But now it’s becoming more like a U.S.- China war through the Ukraine — Russia war. End it now!” Greene tweeted.
This Coup Plotter co-conspirator and insurrectionist and Pro-Putin Caucus disinformation troll is a traitor to her country, she should be expelled from Congress, and prosecuted for her role in January 6, and for continuing to incite insurrection. Or just put her on a plane and deliver her to the Kremlin.
Biden insisted during his visit that the U.S. will remain steadfast in its support of Ukraine and announced an additional aid package worth $460 million, which will include more military equipment and weapons like anti-tank Javelin missiles.
“For all the disagreement we have in our Congress on some issues, there is significant agreement on support for Ukraine,” Biden said.

Not sure what to make of this but it may have something to do with MAGA Fascists calling for secession and siding with the authoritarian terrorist state of Russia over their own country and democracy. Vanity Fair reports, “INSIDE THE DISSIDENT FRINGE, WHERE THE NEW RIGHT MEETS THE FAR LEFT, AND EVERYONE’S BRACING FOR APOCALYPSE”, https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2023/02/new-right-civil-war
(excerpt)
Wealthy and well-connected preppers and back-to-the-landers have been moving west, many of them at least tangentially involved in the edgy online realm of thought known as the dissident right. Tech executives and crypto investors are creating secretive groups to help people “exit”—a term that has taken on almost mystical significance in some circles recently—from our liberal society, tech-dominated lives, and fraying system. And there are grander plans, for whole secessionist movements using crypto and decentralized autonomous organizations to build whole mini societies, many on the model of what Balaji Srinivasan, the former partner at Andreessen Horowitz, calls a “Network State.” (Wyoming recently became the first state in the country to allow DAOs to incorporate as private companies.)
These ideas used to be at the fringiest fringe of a worldview that sees our basic political battle lines shifting from left-right divisions toward a rebellion against globalization, against the notion that the massive market- and tech-driven change that we’ve been living through really represents progress. But this dissident-fringe view has rapidly become mainstream on the right, in part through the dire warnings of a disintegrating global system shared almost nightly on Tucker Carlson Tonight, and—significantly—through coded signifiers broadcast by Republican politicians trying to capitalize on the populist ferment, most obviously Ron DeSantis, who gave a speech titled “Florida vs. Davos” to the National Conservatism Conference in September. “The United States is a nation that has an economy, not the other way around,” he said. “And our economy should be geared toward helping our own people.”
According to this view, the American empire is in danger of fading, weakened by a greedy and insulated oligarchy with more loyalty to their pals in London and Tokyo than to their fellow Americans. The elite have driven regular people into a serflike existence, putting money above every other source of value or meaning: national interest, local cultures, our long-term financial stability, even the environment. (Many young conservatives have suddenly adopted an almost mystical reverence for nature, itself a form of protest against our money- and tech-driven world.) The result is that now a lot of highly online coastal elites talk in much the same way that backwoods militiamen arming themselves against the new world order have been for decades. And vice versa.
So America’s Fifth Column and their fellow travelers are in meltdown over President Biden visiting Ukraine and meeting with President Zelenskyy. And their thoughts on this?:
“A day after Biden’s trip to Kyiv, a delegation of five House Republicans, led by Rep. Mike McCaul of Texas, the chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, visited Kyiv to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to deliver a message of continued U.S. support for the embattled country.”

Hey, at least AZ has at least two members of Congress who make Kyrsten Sinema look like an honorable public servant.
Well, I guess you could similarly state that compared to Alex Murdaugh, most of us are good, decent people. 🙂
