Biggs Won the AZ MAGA Primary and Cook Immediately Re-Grades Gubernatorial Race from ‘Toss-Up’ to ‘Leans Democratic’!~

The MAGAts just picked the #BIGGSest possible sacrificial lamb for the Arizona Gubernatorial race against incumbent Democrat Katie Hobbs. Upon confirmation of #BIGGSestLoser‘s victory over his three far-more-electable rivals, Cook Political Report immediately regraded the race to Leans Democratic.

I was slightly worried about the race, because I felt that Karrin Taylor Robsen would have been a very formidable opponent having serious credibility with AZ’s business interests, but she dropped her bid (despite having a co-endorsement from Trump with the #BIGGSestTraitor) because she recognized that she wasn’t drawing support sufficient to win the nomination. She got the good advice that it is WAY better to preserve her political brand to not actually lose too many primaries at the ballot box. One doesn’t want to habituate primary voters to seeing your name and NOT picking it.

I was less worried, but still concerned, about former Congressman David Schwiekert. He did have deep ethics problems during his terms in Congress, and a heavy voting record to defend, but he had at least demonstrated serious capability in competetive races. David likes to point out that he’s been the most expensive to Dems, as we have spent some $70 million trying pry him out of his seat over the past couple cycles. And David does have more of a pragmatic, rather than ideological approach to policymaking. If he had the chance to message to independents and conservative Dems, he could have spelled real trouble for Katie’s re-election. Certainly more of a threat than the #BIGGSestFascist. It is clearly instructive that David came away with just 15% of the GOP primary electorate.

Traditional conservatives, more like David, who simply believe in low taxes, want smaller governments, adhere to financial realism, and insist on enforcing Constitutional limits and norms, are simply no longer viable with the GOP’s MAGAfied base. Trump understandibly crowed about how his endorsees won up and down the AZ primary ballot. All the REAL Conservatives (as opposed to the MAGA fascists who now own the GOP) are becoming independents, or are registering as Dems. Democrats are now the real conservative party, even those on the far left, because they want to preserve and protect the policies and governance structure than brought America to the pinnacle of world power, build upon it, reform it, and fix it, not blow it all up like the fascists who tongue-bathe Trump’s fragile ego and rubber stamp his maniacal quest for unchecked unitary power.

Frankly, I would have been slightly concerned even about the two unknown candidates in the GOP primary, Scott Nealy and Ken Miceli. At least they were blank slates who could craft their story and their platform to appeal to the general electorate, rather than #BIGGSestMAGA, the insurrectionist bomb-thrower with near perfect scores with the most ideological MAGA rating PACs, almost no real legislative accomplishments to point to in support of his spurious and risible claim to ‘bi-partisan’ cred, and a radically hair-raising social media presence going back years. Those long-shots might have some skeletons in the closet to be discovered, but #BiggestLoser is a oppo researchers’ dream with SOOO many closets and monsters, it’s hard to choose which to open first. You don’t even have to dig much like a real oppo-rative – just Google the jackass.

But now that the AZGOP has thrown itself into the #BIGGSestCesspool in the DC swamp, I am feeling just peachy about Hobbs’ chances of four more years. With #BIGGSestLoser leading the ticket, along with the rest of the #AZMAGACrew, we can expect depressed GOP turnout and lots of crossover voting, given the very low-energy campaigning (if #BIGGSestLazyAss‘s primary schedule and energy is any guide) at the head of the ticket, and the utterly stulifying dead-weight of a failed, quickly brain rotting, war criminal, completely corrupt, and lame duck Trump, weighing down the entire AZ all-MAGA ticket.

Now that I see clearly the choices of the MAGA electorate in AZ, I confidently predict that we will retain all our current state-wide offices, AND we will pick up the Treasurer with Nick Mansour, AZSPI with Dr. Terry Ruiz, we will grab two seats on the AZACC with Jonathon Hill and Clara Pratte, and we will finally flip the AZ House and Senate with the ADLCC’s strategy, planning and fundraising (BlogForArizona’s ADLCC Challenge Match ActBlue link). All of this will enable us to pass real policies that help average Arizonans and legislate for AZ’s future growth and success in ways MAGA simply doesn’t give a single shit about, and to ensure that as many Arizonan’s as possible are able to easily register and vote to keep our politics honest, secure, and competitive.
