A quick follow-up to Craig's post Candidate challenges update: Shaw out, Cheuvront out; Huppenthal in.

According to the Secetary of State's record of petition challenges http://www.azsos.gov/election/2010/Primary/2010_Nomination_Petition_Challenges.pdf, the two remaining petition challenges have been resolved:

Sharon Spane, Democratic candidate for the House in LD 21, is OFF the ballot.

Joe Sweeney, Republican candidate for Congress in CD 7, is ON the ballot despite a large percentage of invalid signatures. Joseph Sweeney – The Cholla Jumps (Tucson Citizen).

The Arizona Guardian (subscription required) reports on the Democratic Party's special action appeal to the state Supreme Court from the Superior Court ruling to allow John Huppenthal on the ballot, despite the court acknowledging that he violated the law. "Supreme Court to rule by Monday on Huppenthal's candidacy":

The state Supreme Court is expected to decide by Monday whether John Huppenthal's name will remain on the August 24 primary election ballot.

A lower court judge ruled last week that Huppenthal broke the law when he collection petition signature before he was officially a candidate for state school superintendent. But Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Robert Oberbillig decided kicking Huppenthal off the ballot was going too far.

Because, after all, IOKIYAR.
