The Arizona Capitol Times reports that Sen. Jonathan Paton (R-LD 30) will resign today. Arizona Capitol Times » Paton to step down today:

Sen. Jonathan Paton said today will be his last in the Arizona Senate.

He said being a lawmaker was the most exciting thing he’s ever done.

“I wouldn’t have wanted to be in any other place,” he said.

Paton’s final act as a lawmaker will be to finish today’s hearing in the Senate Judiciary Committee. He is chairman of the committee.

Paton was a member of the House from 2005 until 2008 when he was elected to the Senate. He now intends to run against U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords in Arizona’s 8th Congressional District.

Republican Party officials in Pima County will choose three people as possible replacements for Paton. After that, the Pima County Board of supervisors will appoint one of those three to fill in for Paton during the rest of this year’s legislative session.

The wannabe tin horn dictator of Tucson can do us no more harm, thank God. He is just another unemployed politician seeking another job. Maybe he will return to some freelance lobbying.

Frank

Now, let the games begin! "Don't make me angry" Frank(enstein) Antenori is no doubt leaning hard on his county supervisor, Ray Carroll, to appoint him to the seat. The Tucson Weekly reported earlier that Frank has recruited former state legislators Bill McGibbon and Randy Graf to be the other two candidates submitted to the Pima County Board of Supervisors. They would serve as a seat warmer if the supervisors do not give in to Frank's extortionary demand. Antenori Chases D30 State Senate Seat While McClure Resets Aim On August Primary

Former Rep. Marian McClure has filed to run for the Senate seat in LD 30, but reportedly has withdrawn her name from consideration to be one of the three candidates submitted to the Board of Supervisors. There is always a chance Marian could be persuaded to change her mind. The GOP precinct committeemen in the Pima County portion of LD 30 will decide the three names to be sent to the Board of Supervisors.

Ultimately, the only vote that really matters is the Board of Supervisors. Start your lobbying now:
