Carpet Bagger, Election Denier, Anti-Vaxxer, QAnon Queen Sen. Kelly Townsend To Run For Congress In So. Arizona District

This is the consequence of the so-called “Independent” Redistricting Commission siding with Republicans to gerrymander a new Republican district in Southern Arizona for Republicans.

A carpet bagger, Sen. Kelly Townsend (R-Apache Junction) (who doesn’t even live in the district), a “Big Lie” election denier and Trump fluffer, and certifiably insane anti-vaxxer and the QAnon Queen of the Arizona Legislature, announced today that she is running for Congress in a district the “Independent” Redistriciting Commission gerrymandered for Juan Ciscomani, Senior Advisor for Regional and International Affairs in the Office of Arizona Governor Doug Ducey. This should be fun: Ciscomani is endorsed by “Traitor” Kevin McCarthy (and presumably Governor Ducey); Townsend is endorsed by “Orange Julius” Caesar.

Townsend is running for Congress because she is too scared to run for her redistricted Senate seat against the equally certifiably insane Sen. Wendy Rogers, who is also a “Big Lie” election denier and Trump fluffer, and QAnon cult member. She also raises far more money than Townsend. Wendy Rogers raises record-breaking $2.5 million for re-election. Laurie Roberts, Arizona’s kookiest senator just made a $2.5 million statement about the future of the GOP: “Rogers is perhaps the kookiest person ever to sit in the Arizona Legislature (and that is saying something).”

Have you met Kelly Townsend? She gives Rogers a run for the title of “the kookiest person ever to sit in the Arizona Legislature.” At Trump’s “Big Lie” Palooza rally in Florence on Saturday, she said this. Pinal politicians give fiery speeches at Trump rally:

“What do we want?” Townsend, whose Legislative District 16 includes Apache Junction, called to the crowd.

“Indictments,” the crowd chanted back, referring to punishment for employees of elections offices in states around the country where Trump has contested results.

“When do we want them?” she screamed over the crowd.

“Now!” the crowd screamed back.

[Townsend followed by calling for the prosecution of Arizona’s election workers, to enthusiasm: “We want indictments of the election workers, so they don’t continue to do this,” she said.]

Townsend, Gosar and Finchem, like many of the other speakers at the event, reiterated already-disproven claims about election fraud and the audit of Arizona ballots.

Just to be clear, Townsend is not talking about the fake Republican electors (some of whom were at the rally) who forged election documents and submitted them to Congress and the the National Archives as part of the “coup memos” plot by Trump lawyers Jojhn Eastman abd Jenna Ellis, and rogue DOJ attorney Jeffrey Clark. These Republicans all participated in a seditious conspiracy in an attempted self-coup to ovetthrow American democracy. These are the people who should be indicted and prosecuted.

Townsend instead wants to prosecute retirees who volunteer to work as poll workers and election workers out of a sense of civic duty, because this is a Trump strategy to intimidate these peole from wanting to volunteer to work an election, and to allow Trump’s cult followers to replace them in order to rig the election.

Now you are talking about my part of Tucson. OH HELL NO, you batshit crazy QAnon Queen! You are not welcome here in Tucson.

Here’s the worst part: Senate President Karen Fann, another “Big Lie” election denier and Trump fluffer, who is responsible for the Arizona Senate GQP sham “fraudit” fiasco, has appointed this fellow “Big Lie” election denier and Trump fluffer, and QAnon Queen of the Arizona Legislature Chair of the Senate Government Committee, wth jurisdiction over the numerous Trump “Big Lie” and GQP Jim Crow 2.0 voter suppression bills headed our way in this legislative session. This is all part of the fixing the outcome of elections strategy that Trump has been been pursuing. This is Trump’s slow-motion insurrection theft of the next election through Republican state legislatures.

Sen. Kelly Townsend will no doubt jam through every onerous Trump “Big Lie” and GQP Jim Crow 2.0 voter suppression bill that comes to her committee to please her cult leader, “Orange Julius” Caesar. Are there enough consientious Republican Senators in the Arizona Legislature to stop her? It would only take one to cause a tie vote to kill a bill in the closely divided Arizona Senate. Is Sen. Michelle Ugenti-Rita, the longtime GQP Queen of voter suppression, still feuding with Townsend for supremacy? (Ugenti-Rita killed some of Townsend’s election bills last session in a pissing match). And what about Sen. Paul Boyer, who occassionally has an attack of conscience and decides to do the right thing? Will he answer the call again? (He is not running for reelection, so this gives him the freedom to do the right thing).

And what about our craven coward Governor Doug Ducey? He could veto these onerous bills ensuring defeat because his veto will not be overridden. Ducey could do this to benefit his candidate, Juan Ciscomani, over Trump’s candidate, Kelly Townsend.

The only losers in this internecine GQP warfare will be the residents of Southern Arizona who deserve better than this.

Luckily we do have former state Senator Kirsten Engel (D-Tucson), who is courageously running for Congress in this district gerrymandered by the “Independent” Redistricting Commission for Gov. Ducey’s candidate. Engel was my state senator. She is the best qualified and conscientious pubic servant running for Congress in this district. She is by far better than the Republican alternatives.
