Epic Boehner Fail: House vote fails to fund DHS, shutdown looms

How many times do I have to tell you that the TanMan, Weeper of the House John Boehner, is the “Worst. Speaker. Ever.” Americans should be able to remove this incompetent fool from his position.

The Hill reports on the TanMan’s latest epic failure. Chaos in House as lawmakers reject DHS bill; shutdown nears:

Screenshot-6A short-term funding measure to keep the Department of Homeland Security open (DHS) was defeated on Friday in a stunning vote that could result in a partial government shutdown at midnight.

The bill failed 203-224, with 51 Republicans voting against legislation that was set to fund the DHS and its associated agencies through March 19. Twelve Democrats voted for it.

The vote is a shocking defeat for Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and his leadership team, who had scrambled to bring the three-week funding bill to the floor ahead of the looming deadline.

Teabaggers throw a temper tantrum, they want their shutdown of DHS

Screenshot-6Un-freakin’-believable. The only reason we can’t get a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) funding bill done is because of the Tea Party Caucus in the House, and a cowardly Weeper of the House, John Boehner, who cannot — or will not — throw these reckless and irresponsible teabaggers under the bus and use Democratic votes to pass it.

The Hill reports, House GOP huddles to decide next move in shutdown fight:

House Republicans are preparing a series of stopgap proposals to keep the Homeland Security Department running in the event that Congress can’t reach an agreement on a longer-term funding bill before Saturday’s deadline.

The GOP conference gathered at 5 p.m. to discuss their options, with 31 hours to prevent a shutdown of the agency.

House Appropriations Committee Chairman Hal Rogers (R-Ky.) said he didn’t know how long the continuing resolution (CR) for Homeland Security funding would last. A vote could be as soon as Friday, he said.

The Turtle caves on DHS funding – but can the TanMan deliver?

Screenshot from 2015-01-25 15:31:49The boxed in Septuagenarian Ninja Turtle, Mitch McConnell, who promised upon become Senate Majority Leader that there would be no government shutdowns on his watch, is preparing to throw the Tea Party Caucus in the TanMan’s House under the bus.

The Turtle will bifurcate the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) funding bill that the Tan Man sent him into two separate bills — a “clean” DHS funding bill, which will pass, and a purely symbolic bill to let the GOP vent about the imperialist law breaking tyrant in the White House who does not share their unhinged hatred for people breathing while brown. Democrats will filibuster this bill, which would be vetoed by Obama in any event. It is purely theater for the conservative media entertainment complex, and for fundraising letter to the crazy base back home.

The question remains, can the TanMan, Weeper of the House John Boehner, herd the cats in his Tea Party Caucus and pass the “clean” DHS funding bill in the House after giving up their hostage demands? The smart money is on “HELL No he can’t!”

Obama editorial today, televised town hall tomorrow re: immigration reform

President Obama penned an editorial opinion that appears in The Hill today, regarding the way forward on immigration reform. Moving forward to fix our broken immigration system:

ObamaOur immigration system has been broken for decades. Our country deeply values fairness, but our immigration system has become unfair to businesses, workers and families alike.

That’s something I’ve been trying to change as president. We have focused on securing our borders, and today the resources that the Department of Homeland Security dedicates to the southwest border are at an all-time high. Since I took office, apprehensions at the border — a key measure of illegal crossings — are at their lowest level since the 1970s, and the number of undocumented individuals living in the U.S. has stopped growing for the first time in decades.

We also worked with the last Congress on a comprehensive fix to our broken immigration system. Sixty-eight Republicans, Democrats and Independents passed a common-sense bill in the Senate to reform our immigration system while helping to grow our economy and shrink our deficits. Yet for more than a year and a half, Republicans in the House kept that bipartisan bill from reaching my desk.

Brnovich beating a dead horse with DREAMers drivers license appeal

mark-brnovich*304xx276-414-62-0I warned you about this guy. Better Know a Candidate: Mark ‘I’d like to buy a vowel’ Brnovich. He is a Tenther “states rights!” Neo-Confederate dead-ender who used to work for the Goldwater Institute that specializes in this nonsense.

Newly elected state Attorney General Mark Brnovich is going to renew former Gov. Jan Brewer’s effort to deny drivers licenses to the “DREAMers.” Arizona to appeal court order letting ‘dreamers’ drive:

[The AG’s] office filed a notice Friday it is appealing a month-old ruling by U.S. District Judge David Campbell that Arizona illegally denied licenses for those who qualify for the Obama administration’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.

Campbell rejected arguments by attorneys for the state that DACA recipients are in this country illegally.

Friday’s filing by Brnovich does not provide details of what the state will now argue to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, which rejected a state appeal last year.

In December, the U.S. Supreme Court refused to block a ruling by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit requiring the state to issue driver’s licenses to the so-called “DREAMers.” U.S. Supreme Court rejected Gov. Brewer’s request to deny DREAMers a driver’s license. So this appeal is just beating a dead horse. The matter has already been considered and decided.
