CD Three Candidate Yassamin Ansari Unveils Her Plan for a Green New Deal

Already known for her work combatting extreme heat and fighting for Clean Energy Sustainability as an advisor at the United Nations and a Councilwoman/Vice Mayor in Phoenix, Arizona House Congressional District (CD) Three Candidate Yassamin Ansari has unveiled her plan to fight for a Green New Deal if she wins election to the House of Representatives this November.

Among the ideas promoted in the former Vice Mayor’s Green New Deal plan are:

  • Designating extreme heat as a natural disaster.
  • Continued and greater investments in tree shading programs.
  • Improving insulation in homes.
  • Funding additional high-speed commuter rail.
  • Training a Green-Collar Workforce.
  • Investing in Clean Energy Sustainable Infrastructure.
  • Promoting greater water irrigation efficiency.
  • Foster a water recycling culture and improve sustainable water management.

Ms. Ansari also conveyed her knowledge and expertise in the Sustainability area by calling attention to the programs she advanced while on the Phoenix City Council including:

  • Supporting the establishment of the Office of Heat Response and Mitigation.
  • Promoting heat working safety standards and investments in additional cooling centers in the Phoenix area.
  • Leading the way on the City’s Transportation Electrification Action Plan and a Zero Emission Bus Fleet.
  • Her role in helping pass city water recycling programs.
