‘Conservadem’ Amanda Aguirre to primary Congressman Raúl Grijalva

"Conservadem" Amanda Aguirre, a former state legislator from Yuma, formally announced this week that she will run for Cogress against Congressman Raúl Grijalva in the Democratic primary. Aguirre joins Democrats seeking to oust Grijalva:

Yuma businesswoman Amanda Aguirre announced Thursday she will run against U.S. Rep. Raúl Grijalva.

Aguirre, 59, a moderate Democrat, said she wants to see the two parties stop arguing and work together to solve the economic crisis.

Aguirre will face incumbent Grijalva in the primary election for the new Congressional District 3, which includes portions of Pima, Pinal, Yuma, Santa Cruz and Maricopa counties.

Other Democrats in the race are physician Manny Arreguin and businessman David Crowe, both from Tucson.

Splitting the "conservadem" anti-Grijalva faction three ways will only benefit Grijalva in winning his primary. In fact, the more the merrier.

What the Star does not mention is Aguirre's connection to the "conservadem" anti-Grijalva faction in Tucson that has been feuding with Grijalva for years, and regularly losing to him. See the Tucson Weekly from August 2002, Monkey Business | Feature | Tucson Weekly.

What I recall about Aguirre is that she frequently voted with the Republicans against the interests of organized labor. And my sources inside labor have been telling me for months that they will work hard to support Congressman Grijalva and to defeat Amanda Aguirre, because they have not fogotten.
