I'm reading about the votes on holding Eric Holder in contempt. The reports I read say Congressman Barber split his vote, voting no on criminal contempt but yes on civil contempt. This is a vote that the entire CBC as well as most of Democratic House leadership, walked out on.
I should disclose that I support Matt Heinz in the upcoming primary. But this blog reported the Fortune investigation of the so-called Fast and Furious fiasco. Simply put, there's no there there. It's a bit troubling that one of our new Congressman's first acts is to join in with a Republican witch hunt, and perhaps give political cover to Republicans in November.

Well put Bob,
There is so much not there that during one of the Kangaroo hearings (Issa hearing), Holder acknowledged that there was a firearms sell-and-track-to-Mexico program – even though we now know, from the Fortune Magazine article, that there was in fact, no such program. i.e. Holder admitted to a program that never existed. (Scoobie-do “RUHUH????”
My guess would be that being a politician in damage control, and with a historically demonstrated lack of backbone, Holder started apologizing before he had the facts from his own people.
On the other hand, I’m confused that; there was a media-repeated story that this program was started under Bush, when the Fortune article seems to prove there never was such a program under Obama or Bush.

Let’s hope Congressman Barber does the right thing and withdraws from the November election. With his sainted predecessor’s blessing, he kept her seat for the Democrats through the rest of the term that she had originally been elected to. Now it’s time for Matt Heinz, a young, more dynamic man who doesn’t run scared. If this blog had the sensibility of right-wing Republican blogs — which, thankfully, it does not — people would be using the term DINO, and not to refer to the pet in the Flintstones cartoon or the late great Rat Pack performer.
When it comes to appeasing right-wingers, however, it appears one newly-elected Democratic politician is the Barber of Servility.
Hi Bob- Evan Hutchison, Heinz campaign manager here- just wanted to thank you for your support. We are releasing our reaction to the contempt vote today, so keep your eye out.
Barber’s been in Congress… what? Two weeks or less? And how many times has he voted with the Republicans? He’s a bluer blue dog that Gabby was. This is …. can’t use those words in polite company. Not a happy camper, anyway.
Very troubling indeed. I hadn’t seen his name on the list of Dems that voted with Republicans. You’re absolutely right. There is no THERE, there.
