Democrats Do Not Need Their Own MAGA Movement

With the revelation that there is another credible sexual assault allegation against Maine Senate Democratic Nominee Graham Platner, Pragmatic Progressive Democrats, Progressive Democrats, and Democratic Socialists need to come together and declare:

Democrats do not need their own left-wing version of a lunatic fringe MAGA movement, complete with candidates who have a similar sexual assault rap sheet as Donald Trump or the few individuals who:

  • Call for the defunding of police.
  • Open Borders.
  • Call for a Palestinian State that encompasses all the land that is currently the internationally recognized State of Israel.
  • Have Nazi-style tattoos.

Candidates like predator Platner and those few who espouse these far-out views should not be supported.

The three factions of the Democratic Party need to band together, swear off such fringe candidates, and work on a united platform that everyone could agree on, including:

  • Affordability, like housing and rental assistance.
  • Expanding the Middle Class
  • Raising the Minimum Wage to at least 20.00 an hour.
  • Affordable and quality child care and full-day kindergarten.
  • Increase in Pell Grants, Student Loan Forgiveness, and Paid Apprenticeships.
  • Affordable and quality health care including expansion of Medicare and Medicaid which could lead to Medicare for All.
  • A Green New Deal.
  • Supreme Court reform, term limits, and expansion.
  • Prosecute all the people in this regime, including Donald Trump, who have committed criminally corrupt acts.
  • Comprehensive Immigration Reform, which includes the abolishment of ICE, increased resources for border security, more immigration judges, a pathway to citizenship for Dreamers, the closing of Trump’s concentration camps, and a reformed asylum process.
  • Restoring America’s place in the world.

This is a united agenda all Democrats can find agreement on and can field credible candidates to take the fight to Donald Trump’s White Nationalist-Fascist-Social Darwinist movement.

In 2010, Republicans lost a credible chance to retake the Senate because their primary voters put up candidates like Christine O’Donnell, the one running for Joe Biden’s Senate seat after he became Vice President, who had a reputation for being a witch.

Primary Democratic voters should not repeat the Republican mistake of 2010.

  1. Missing from the list is the number one issue – overturning Citizen’s United.

And the number two issue, making billionaires and corporations and Wall Street pay f’n taxes like the rest of us. No more tax breaks or subsidies for Not-sees like Musk.

Number three, and I know this is a sore spot, stop sending war criminal Bibi money. It’s costing Dems votes.

Last week he said Israel doesn’t need our money anymore anyway, and we know Bibi is a religious man who would never, ever lie. It’s costing Dems votes.

Nice to haves, get rid of the DH in baseball, and the National Anthem is impossible to sing, replace it with “Celebration” by Kool and the Gang so we can all get in some cardio at the start of a ballgame.

    • Those are all good points except the ones about getting rid of the DH and the National Anthem. Who wants to see the pitcher strike out with the bases loaded? And how can you replace the National Anthem?

      • The National Anthem is a nightmare, musically, for even a great singer. Even Whitney Houston’s famous version had a time signature change, was spurced up a bit, and she, like everyone else, did not sing all the verses.

That third verse says a lot about America. 🙁

For the DH, Babe Ruth was a pitcher, and Shohei Ohtani seems to make it work. 🙂

I also realize I am the Galileo of my generation on these issues, but I am confident history will prove me right!
