Election Night

Just a few observations. There is a lot to digest this evening.

WE WON!!! Bite it, Bush!

We got the House, we likely have the Senate. We elected two new Democratic Congress members for Arizona. We didn’t succeed in ousting Jon Kyl or Dick Renzi. We had some close misses and some narrow victories at both the state and federal level. We captured the majority of Governorships.

In short, the voters sent a loud and clear message to the GOP. And it’s too dirty for even me to write…

Unfortunately, there is very little cause for joy in the state level returns. We have some good news in some of the state legislative races, but they are balanced by disappointments in key state-wide races such as Treasurer, SPI, and SecState. We re-elected our Governor and Attorney General by wide margins, but the anger and motivation didn’t sweep as far down the ticket as hoped.

More soon…

  1. Harry is a nice guy and a terrific personality and it came across to the voters. I watched as J.D. was featured on IMUS in the Morning show and IMUS even had a problem with J.D.’s lack of compassion and understanding on everything NOT just enforcement of our rights against the Invasion of Illegal Immigrants that is effecting your and my Property taxes right now in Pima County.

  2. I don’t think that it is that high. I believe that the mail-ins were counted last night. THere may still be a couple of thouseand provisional ballots in each county, which COULD sway some races, especially the close state house races. I don’t see Mitchell will lose, which is what matt S. is praying for.

  3. Anyone have an idea of how many mail-in and provisional ballots still need counting? Matt Salmon indicated there were over 250,000 last night. If that is true, it could affect a lot of races.

    Anyone heard a solid number?

  4. As for President Bush; Carl Rove and he built Republican gains in the House and Senate in 2004 on (1) one thing; The War In Iraq; when the War went sour so did the voters, and so went the House and Senate.

With the economy at record levels and unemployement at record lows Taxes Low, inflation low, everything is humming but the voter.

Carl Rove made a fatal miscalculation about The War in Iraq and it has cost our Miltary dearly in lives and equipment for a people that will never understand what Freedom is, because it goes against there very core beliefs and religion!

The stupidty of basing an administration on one leg of a chair instead of three legs so when one gives out the chair does not fall over is beyond me!

  5. Mike wanted me to comment on why candidates against Illegal Immigration lost re election or elections.

I quite frankly had a hard time putting it that way because Illegal Immigration effects so many aspects of our society, and my theses was proven to be correct.

Voters READ PROPOSITIONS irregardless of candidates spin or personalities and overwhelmingly vote restrictions on Illegal Immigrants beyond that of either political party.

That is why when asked by Mike to explain why candidates who are anti-illegal immigration lost I told him it does not fit what I see the voters really want.

The propositions were defined and the clear choice of the voter is where I am today and have been for my whole life; Illegal IS illegal no matter what candidate or political party can spin it into in each district.

We are on for 2008 and I will hold Giffords accountable for her actions.

The Governor won a landslide because of my working with her to change her stand on putting the National Guard on the Border and she took my advise and did a 180 degree turn making her seem to FIT THE MOLD of what the people were saying and she won a landslide because of that shift and supporting laws that rein in illegal immigration.

Democratsran as I advised them to do run MODERATE and win Republican voters over;it worked!

Now we Democrats need to show the voters of all political parties we can govern by making things happen in Washington, not just to get even but a “REAL JOB APPROACH” to Politics as a Corporation approaches a problem, GET IT DONE OR BE FIRED!
