Envision Tucson Sustainable Festival on Oct. 16

Envision

“This year’s 6th annual Envision Tucson Sustainable Festival will take place Sunday, October 16, from 11 am to 4 pm. We’re back at the YWCA, 525 N. Bonita Ave, a great location for exploring the many facets of sustainability.

At this family friendly event, you’ll meet community organizations and companies creating a strong future for our city and region, and you’ll find opportunities to get more involved in local actions. You can chat with exhibitors on everything from gardening and food security to recycling and composting, from clean air to preparing for heat emergencies, from green buildings to water harvesting, and much more. Special exhibits feature electric vehicles, and a creative variety of solar ovens demonstrating solar cooking. Visionary speakers will share ideas for energy efficiency and for enjoying local and native fruits, and will introduce the 2030 District, working to make local buildings efficient and resilient. Students and teachers from Borton Magnet School, representing the next generation of sustainability leaders, will receive this year’s Green School Recognition.

Admission is free. There will be delicious local food for purchase, and there’s plenty of free parking. Or, come (sustainably) by bike and park securely with Living Streets Alliance and their Bike Valet. ”

  1. Just spent 2 hours at this enjoyable festival learning about sustainability practices, solar energy, farmer’s markets, rainwater harvesting rebate from Tucson Water, etc. Great tables, music, talks (listened to one about electric vehicles then got motivated to view them outside/back of YWCA). Heard Mayor Rothschild recognize Borton Elem. for their Green School recognition due to their gardening practices (edible as well). Cyclovia Tucson there to encourage people to bike more, see our calendar for their upcoming event on Oct. 30. Few more hours of this festival, so check it out. Lots of free info and parking.
