“The Tanque Verde Democrats will be hosting forums for Pima County Sheriff candidates and Pima County Attorney candidates at our next meeting. Join us and learn more about those running for these important positions.

Candidates for Pima County Sheriff

Chris Nanos

Sheriff Chris Nanos was born and raised in El Paso, Texas. He attended the University of Texas – El Paso, majoring in Criminal Justice/Public Administration and began his law enforcement career in 1976 with the El Paso Police Department. He has been with the Pima County Sheriff’s Department since 1984.

Sandy Rosenthal

A Tucson native, Sandy Rosenthal’s roots run deep in the community where he was born at St. Mary’s Hospital. Sandy is a family man, having been happily married to Susan Rosenthal for 39 years. Sandy’s commitment to community extends beyond his family. He has served in a variety of positions in various community organizations.

Candidates for Pima County Attorney

Laura Conover

Laura is the current Pima County Attorney. A lifelong Democrat and Tucsonan, she was elected in 2020, at the peak of the Covid-19 Pandemic. Public service is a family endeavor for Laura and her family. Before her time in office Laura was an experienced criminal trial attorney.

Mike Jette

Mike Jette, a steadfast figure in legal prosecution, has recently transitioned from his role as Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Arizona to pursue a new chapter as a candidate for Pima County Attorney.”
