Clara Pratte built her career on public service and is now a successful small business owner and entrepreneur as well as a mom to two boys. She is running to lower costs for Arizonans, restore integrity to the Arizona Corporation Commission, strengthen consumer protections, and ensure Arizona urgently harnesses its clean energy potential before it’s too late.
Clara is a member of the Navajo Nation. She grew up on the nation in a small town called Lupton on the Arizona / New Mexico border. Her family did not have access to utilities or running water until she was in middle school. Her career spans decades of successful work advocating for tribal communities and small businesses, including serving under three U.S. Presidents and four Navajo Nation Presidents.
Clara is running as a Clean Elections Candidate, which means her campaign is funded through Arizona’s Citizens Clean Elections program rather than large special-interest donations. This program provides public funding to candidates who qualify by collecting a set number of $5 contributions from Arizona voters, ensuring they are accountable to the people—not big donors or corporate interests. For a race like the Arizona Corporation Commission, which regulates powerful utility companies, running clean demonstrates Clara’s commitment to independence, transparency, and putting consumers first.”
Carolyn’s note: Clara is running along with Dem Jonathon Hill for 2 seats on ACC. They will face off with the 2 Republican incumbents in the General Election in November.
