“Organized by We the People R Indivisible, Sahuarita Democrats & Independents, & Rapid Response Network. The federal government is moving to dramatically expand ICE detention and the model they are pursuing should alarm every one of us. ICE is actively scouting, purchasing, and retrofitting warehouses nationwide, each designed to hold between 1,500 and 10,000 people. These are not detention facilities. They are buildings built to store products, now being repurposed to warehouse human beings. All immigration detention is inherently inhumane. But the warehouse model takes that inhumanity to a new scale. Jailing thousands of people in large-scale, makeshift facilities exponentially increases the likelihood of abuse and death in ICE custody. Beyond the human cost, these facilities divert critical local resources — water, electricity, infrastructure — away from the communities that need them, while cutting off tax revenue and foreclosing economic opportunities for years to come. Across the country, communities are pushing back and so are we. JOIN US Saturday | April 25 | 8:00am Esperanza Blvd/La Canada We will be joining rallies, vigils, and actions happening simultaneously in cities across the nation as part of a coordinated national campaign organized by Detention Watch Network, Disappeared in America, and their partners. Together we are demanding a halt to this expansion and the protection of immigrant rights everywhere. Bring a sign, bring a neighbor, and bring your voice. Every person who shows up makes our community’s presence impossible to ignore. Do not engage with agitators or anyone attempting to provoke conflict. If confronted, remain calm, step away, and prioritize everyone’s safety. Please use caution when crossing the street and be alert to traffic, which may come close to the curb.”
