Persist: a Vigil re: Dobbs decision

Dobbs vs. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decided on June 24, 2022 overruled the landmark Roe vs. Wade (1973) case and let the state legislatures decide on abortion availability in each state. 13 states now have near-total bans.

“Arizona voters passed Proposition 139 on Nov. 5, 2024, the Arizona for Abortion Access Act, which will establish a fundamental right to abortion in the state constitution and provide a path to challenge Arizona’s dangerous 15-week abortion ban. The amendment protects people’s right to decide for themselves whether to end a pregnancy. On March 5, 2025, a judge permanantly blocked the state’s 15-week ban because it denies Arizonans’ access to abortion care in violation of the state’s 2024 constitutional amendment.” (from ACLU of AZ website)
