How low can the MAGA Republican Party get under “President” Elon Musk and his faithful puppet sidekick Donald Trump get?
Under the cover of wanting to make government more efficient again as well as providing space on the government credit line for unneeded welfare for the rich tax cuts for their fellow billionaires, the Musk/Trump team torpedoed a bipartisan budget deal that would have passed Congress and funded the Government into the new year and pressured House Speaker Mike Johnson to put forth a MAGA only fiscal measure without input from Democrats that crashed and burned on the House floor yesterday (December 19, 2024) with all but two Democrats and 38 Republicans opposing it.
The 38 Republicans opposed the measure because it would have increased the nations debt limit.
The Democrats opposed it because:
- They had no input into the process unlike in the bipartisan budget agreement Musk/Trump nixed.
- The debt limit increase is not meant to help the nation’s economic situation but instead allow “President” Musk, his sidekick Trump, and the other pro plutocratic MAGA Republicans to slide in another tax cut welfare program for the wealthy. This would have been the opening moves for even greater MAGA spending cut proposals including in Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.
- Provisions that they had installed in the original bipartisan agreement were stripped. Among these items were consumer protection measures to help rural residents receive cost effective broadband, community hospitals, secure semiconductor supply chains, prohibit deepfake pornography, and funding for medical research and to help treat pediatric cancer.
This needs to be repeated.
“President” Musk and his sidekick Donald Trump want to use the guise of government efficiency to fund their tax cuts on the backs of children with cancer.
Incoming Arizona House Congressional District Three Representative Yassamin Ansari rightly called this interpretation of government efficiency “evil.”
New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez posted:
Arizona House Congressional District Four Representative Greg Stanton posted:
Hawaii Senator Brian Schatz posted:
In their Orwellian and Alternative Reality twist on events, MAGA Republicans chose to blame Democrats for the fiscal mess and looming government shutdown they created.
Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren rightly called that reasoning “Nuts.”
Democrats and like minded Republicans need to push back on the fiscally reckless and, yes, “evil” budget priorities of “President” Elon Musk, his sidekick Donald Trump, and their MAGA supporters.
The American People, however uninformed, did not vote for making government efficient on the backs of children with cancer.
They not vote for “President” Elon Musk either.
