Flopping Like a Fish, Kari Lake Once Again Supports the Total Abortion Ban

Pro-ban: April 27, 2024: Republican US Senate Candidate Kari Lake saysunfortunately‘ Arizona isn’t enforcing the 1864 abortion ban, flipping again.

Anti-ban: April 11, 2024: Lake says, “This total ban on abortion that the Arizona Supreme Court has ruled on is out of line with where the people of this state are,” in a video posted to X.

Pro-ban: June 24, 2022, Lake says, “We have a good law on the books. It will prohibit abortion in Arizona.”

Pro-ban: May 11, 2022: Lake says, “Abortion is the ultimate sin.”

Pro-ban: February 5, 2020, Lake said, “Obviously, I believe that Roe v. Wade should be overturned.”

Kari’s message to conservative Idaho residents (yup, Idaho, not Arizona) was that she was “disappointed” that Arizona’s pro-choice leaders aren’t enforcing the draconian ban on abortion — even though just last week Lake was asking state legislators to repeal the law that she called “great” back in 2022.

In an interview with the Idaho Dispatch on April 27, Lake described the recent court decision upholding the 1864 law: “The Arizona Supreme Court said this is the law of Arizona. But unfortunately, the people running our state have said we’re not going to enforce it,” Lake said, expressing disappointment in steps taken by Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs and Attorney General Kris Mayes, to block prosecutions under the ban.

“We don’t have that law, as much as many of us wish we did,” Lake added.

“She’s flopping more than a fish on a dry lakebed, and the only thing we know for sure is that she’ll do and say anything to please Donald Trump and the most extreme fringes of the right wing,” said the Arizona Democratic Party.
