Funniest Nixon movie ever

There are a number of good films about Watergate and “Tricky Dick” Nixon — All the Presidents Men (1976),  Nixon (1995), Frost/Nixon (2008), for example.

DickBut my favorite film on this anniversary of “Nixon Resigns” is the comedy parody Dick (1999). Nixon is brilliantly played by Dan Hedaya.

Kirsten Dunst and Michelle Williams are two high school girls who are hired to be Nixon’s dog walkers after a class trip to the White House.

Through various situation comedy twists and turns, in this “almost true story” the girls turn out to be the legendary “Deep Throat” responsible for bringing down the presidency of Richard Nixon.

This movie has the best ending evah! The girls decked out in All-American hippie garb go up to the roof of their building with a hand painted sign they made for their former boss. Nixon boards the presidential helicopter for the last time, and as the helicopter flies over the girls’ building, Nixon sees the girls with their sign. As you might expect, Nixon flips them the bird!

If it’s been a few years since you have seen this film, or if you have never seen it (shame on you!) this weekend is the perfect time to rent it, or watch it online with streaming video.
