Giffords Endorses Inevitability

This is how you know the Democratic primary for President is well and truly over: one of Arizona’s most cautious politicians (to put it tactfully… I just say "timid") has finally plucked up the courage to endorse Obama. If Gabby doing it, it has to be safe…

Of course, Gabby prudently waited until Super-Delegate and Arizona State Democratic Party Chairman Don Bivens endorsed Obama… who is required by party rules not to endorse during the primary. So Gabby didn’t endorse until Biven’s had declared? Wow, that’s some commitment to not having a position.

Gabby, there are a few people who still haven’t made up their mind; are you sure you want to do anything rash and precipitous?

To be fair (though that just really isn’t my style), I’m sure it’s difficult for a woman in Democratic politics to have held off the calls from certain of her core constituents to endorse Hillary. Those with views like this, perhaps:

I give Gabby credit for playing a tactful game, but really, if she didn’t want to piss anyone off, she could have just waited until the Convention. Oh, but that might have pissed of the Obama camp, which is now swelling its ranks enormously as the general election bandwagon gets rolling. Wouldn’t want to be left out of that party.

Unfortunately, you can’t please everyone all the time – but Gabby is doing her best…
