While Republican Gubernatorial Candidates Karrin Taylor Robson and Andy Biggs are publicly supporting a Reverse Robin Hood Trump-MAGA Economic Monstrosity that robs live saving health care, food assistance from children, education Pell Grants, clean energy jobs, and research funding to combat diseases from the poor and middle class to explode the deficit and give the wealthy tax cuts and subsidies to enroll their children in the private school of their choice, Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs, a person who knows all about the struggles of living day to day in Middle Class America, used the powers of her office and the funding agreed to in the last budget to help qualifying Grand Canyon State residents not part of the top one percent, achieve Arizona’s Promise by channeling an affordability agenda.
One should ask if Robson or Biggs have ever visited a soup kitchen, a homeless shelter, or a Head Start Pre-School. Do they even know the challenges people in Arizona face every day?
Governor Hobbs definitely knows the hardships Grand Canyon State residents endure and over the last two months has taken steps to make Arizonans lives better.
Last month, the Governor took steps to reduce medical debt and provide child care access for qualifying Arizonans.
She also funded infrastructure projects in Rural Arizona.
This week, Governor Hobbs has taken additional steps to help people achieve Arizona’s Promise by advancing affordability agenda items in housing and lowering prescription drug costs.
Yesterday (August 5,) the Governor announced the expansion of Arizona Is Home to include 1000 qualifying home buyers in a “program provides enhanced down payment assistance and mortgage interest rate relief to qualifying low-to-middle income first-time homebuyers.”
The program, created in 2024 with an initial investment with $13 million in Biden/Harris American Rescue Plan funds to help 500 people will use $5 million for the expansion.
Commenting in a press release, Governor Hobbs wrote:
“By putting homeownership within reach, we’re helping working families unlock the Arizona Promise and build their future right here in Arizona. Through Arizona Is Home, we’ve turned the dream of owning a home into a reality for hundreds of Arizonans, and now even more Arizonans will have that same opportunity.”

Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego voiced her support of the Governors announcement, commenting to Blog for Arizona:
“I’m encouraged to see this housing initiative expanded. This is a step in the right direction and builds upon the significant investments the City of Phoenix has made into creating and preserving tens of thousands of homes for our residents at all income levels. We’re doing this by rebuilding outdated public housing, providing financing for housing projects, making city-owned land available to affordable home builders and collaborating with school districts to sell their excess land for home development.”

Today (August 6, 2025,) the Governor took steps to help Arizonans buy reduced price prescription drugs and pay lower energy utility costs.
First, in a public ceremony, she signed an Executive Order providing lower prescription drug costs for Arizonans by joining the Grand Canyon State with “ArrayRx, the nation’s multi-state public pharmacy collaborative that offers discounted prescription drug prices.”
Other states in this coalition are Oregon, Washington, Nevada, Ohio, and Connecticut.
According to a Gubernatorial Press Release, features of this prescription drug discount program are:
- “Arizonans who use the ArrayRx Discount Card program will be able to lower the cost of their prescription drugs by up to 80%.
- Free to join – 100% Pass-through administration costs for States, free enrollment with no membership dues for users, and no transaction or marketing fees for participating pharmacies.
- Broad coverage – includes all FDA-approved prescriptions and discounts on over-the-counter medications and supplies (e.g., diabetes test supplies).
- Significant savings – participating users save between 80% for generic drugs and 18% for brand-name drugs per prescription.
- Nationwide access – the card can be used at more than 65,000 participating pharmacies across the U.S.
Online tools for transparency – users can compare medication prices and search pharmacies on the ArrayRx website or mobile app. - Privacy-first model – unlike for-profit discount programs (e.g. GoodRx), ArrayRx does not sell user data.
Peace of mind for users – helps individuals manage maintenance medications and provides security in cases of insurance loss or gaps in coverage. - Advantage of joining – ArrayRx is governed by a steering committee of committed public servants with over 200 years of aggregated experience in pharmacy service programs. These professionals offer Arizona their knowledge of pharmacy programs spanning both the public and private arenas. This group shares an aligned fiduciary responsibility that is not found elsewhere in the pharmacy benefit management industry.”
Commenting on her Executive Order, the Governor said:
“For too long and for too many families, rising costs, including prescription drug prices, have put the Arizona Promise out of reach. We are changing that. I’m proud to take action to keep money in Arizonans’ pockets, create pathways to health and wellbeing, and restore the Arizona Promise for families across the state.”
