Hobbs Campaign Responds to Biggs Plans for the Grand Canyon State

Arizona Republican Gubernatorial Nominee, accused January 6 instigator, Trump enabler, voter of budgets that take away people’s access to food and health assistance to pay for tax cuts for the rich, and protector of pedophiles, Andy Biggs wants to expand the fraud-filled, over-billion-dollar Empowerment Scholarship Account Welfare for the Wealthy Program.

That is exactly what Arizona’s hardworking, working- and middle-class voters need. More of their hard-earned tax dollars going to questionable purchases like a trip to Disneyland or purchasing lingerie at Victoria’s Secret.

He also wants to get rid of the state income tax, repeating the discredited voodoo economic argument of Republicans since Reagan that tax cuts pay for themselves.

He obviously missed the newsflash that the national debt, caused in part by Reagan, Bush II, and Trump tax cuts for the wealthy, has shot up to $40 trillion this year.

Expanding the ESA program while taking away about six billion in revenue for the state coffers were two major proposals offered by Biggs at a press event at the State Capitol earlier in the week where the nominee described what he would do if elected Governor.

Other noteworthy proposals that would make sane voters cringe are:

• Taking away the requirement that college students 18 and older have to be vaccinated. Nothing like appealing to the vaccine denying crowd.
• Repealing a Hobbs Executive Order that would allow solar and wind power installations on State Lands.
• Limit grocery purchases by SNAP recipients.

Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs’s Campaign Communications Director, Michael Beyer responded to a request for comment by Blog for Arizona on Bigg’s proposals, stating:

“Governor Hobbs has worked across the aisle to cut taxes, lower costs, protect our water, and make Arizona safer. Meanwhile, Andy Biggs is showing Arizonans exactly what the extreme Washington agenda he would bring to our state looks like: threatening access to IVF, giving taxpayer-funded subsidies to data centers, letting bad-actor developers suck Arizona’s groundwater dry, ending vote by mail, and gutting investments in good-paying jobs, public safety, housing, and water security. Andy Biggs is promising to give extremists free rein to turn their dangerous agenda into law.”
