I guess these guys didn’t get the memo about how the GOP needs Latino voters

I keep seeing reports that the GOP has learned its lesson from the 2012 election, and that it is now prepared to abandon its nativist/racist anti-immigrant bashing ways to appeal to the growing Latino electorate for future elections, or face extinction as a viable political party.

I guess these guys didn't get the memo. Willard "Mittens" Romney aka "Mr. Self-Deport," the GOP nominee for president in 2012, has not changed his position. Mitt Romney: No path to citizenship for illegal immigrants:

Mitt Romney, who blamed much of his loss in the 2012 presidential
campaign on his and his party’s failure to connect with Latino voters,
said Sunday that he remains opposed to providing a path to citizenship
or even permanent residency to illegal immigrants.

“People who have come here illegally should not be given a special
pathway to permanent residency or citizenship in this country merely
because they’ve come here illegally,” Romney said in an interview with
“Fox News Sunday” in his first public comments since the 2012 election.

And then there is the "Great White Hope" of the Republican establishment for 2016, Jeb Bush — you know, the guy we are assured by the media villagers is reasonable and moderate. Jeb Bush no longer supports path to citizenship:

Former Florida governor Jeb Bush (R) on Monday backed off his previous
support for a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants, saying it
would send the wrong message to people who have tried to immigrate
legally.

Asked by NBC’s Matt Lauer why his new book doesn’t advocate a path to citizenship, Bush said it wouldn’t be fair.

“Because our proposal is a proposal that looks forward,” he said.
“And if we want to create an immigration policy that’s going to work, we
can’t continue to make illegal immigration an easier path than legal
immigration. And so I think it’s important that there is a natural
friction between our immigrant heritage and the rule of law.”

Jeb Bush said as recently as June 2012 that he supports a path to citizenship as a part of comprehensive immigration reform. (Keep in mind that "Jebby" is married to Columba Garnica Gallo, a Mexican born in León, Guanajuato, Mexico. Apparently marrying an American citizen is the only other path to citizenship that Jeb supports.)

The media villagers might want to check with Sens. John McCain, Jeff Flake and Marco Rubio who are on the "gang of eight" for immigration reform to see if this is an emerging GOP position. It may be that these two has-beens who never will be are just spouting off.
