If Republicans will not Move to Censure Liz Harris, Democrats will

State Representative Liz Harris

You know Liz Harris and her really out-there surrogate, Jacqueline Berger, are extreme when Wendy COVID vaccines are the Mark of the Beast and the Big Lie is True Rogers is being placed in the same boat as Governor Katie Hobbs, Secretary of State Adrian Fontes, and Mesa Mayor John Giles in being accused of taking part in a money laundering scheme that benefits drug cartels.

MAGA Republican leadership, already facing the mainstream music after holding a hearing on nonexistent election fraud the day after the revelations that former Arizona Attorney General Mark Bronovich sat on a report that showed no widespread election fraud in 2020 took place, were up against the wall after the controversial Legislative District (LD) Representative Harris traded her vote for the conservative skinny budget in exchange for her confederate, Jacqueline Berger, being allowed to present her findings and theories to the event.

Unfortunately for them (and a blessing to everyone else,) this agreement blew up in their face when Ms. Berger accused several figures, including Republican House Speaker Ben Toma, MAGA darling Rogers and Cyber Ninja enabler (and former Secretary of State and Senate leader) Ken Bennett of participating in a scheme involving real estate, money laundering, and drug cartels.

Talk about a circular firing squad.

However, despite the strong condemnation from the MAGA Republican leadership (who have apparently found someone politically crazier than them,) the former party of Lincoln at the State Legislature, needing Harris’s vote to pass their reactionary bills just in time to find their way to Governor Hobbs desk for her to veto, have refused to file paperwork to censure the LD 13 Representative.

That is not a problem for the House Democrats who waited over a week for Republicans to do the right thing.

State Representative Stephanie Stahl Hamilton (LD 21)

LD 21 Representative Stephanie Stahl Hamilton filed that paperwork earlier today (March 6, 2023.)

In the document to the House Ethics Committee, Representative Stahl Hamilton wrote:

“Rather than present information that was supported by the evidence and facts, one presenter in particular, who was personally invited by Representative Harris instead spun a “delusional and fantastical narrative”…of election conspiracies that defamed several sitting judges, elected officials including Speaker of the House Ben Toma, and the entire Church of Jesus Christ for Later Day Saints…The testimony of Ms. Berger clearly crossed the line into defamation…I simply can not understand how Representative Harris could have concluded that it would be appropriate to invite Ms. Berger to testify and spread such blatant falsehoods.”

In a press release from the House Democrats, Representative Stahl Hamilton added:

“Eleven days ago, Representative Liz Harris invited a guest to speak at a joint Elections Committee hearing. Her star witness used our institution and platform to level – and put into the record — vile smears of laundering money for the Sinaloa Drug Cartel against dozens of sitting judges, elected officials, and the entire Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. These lies were picked up by partisan right-wing publications and social media influencers and quickly spread around the world before the truth could put on its pants. The damage can’t be undone, but there should be some accountability while it’s still spreading and compounding.”

To the reactionaries that have sent threatening social media posts and emails to the LD 21 Representative, Stahl Hamilton replied:

“I will not be intimidated. The lies must end now.”

It is a shame that there is not one Republican in the State Legislature that has the convictions, courage, and common decency to censure one of their own when that person has clearly demonstrated they deserve it.
