Coach and beloved Dad Bill Waltz, accepted the nomination for Vice President. ““When we Democrats talk about freedom, we mean the freedom to make a better life for yourself and the people you love. Freedom to make your own health care decisions. And yeah, your kids’ freedom to go to school without worrying about being shot dead in the hall,” Walz said.

Bill Clinton compared Trump to a tenor singing “me, me, me, me, me.” With Harris as president, Clinton continued, the days will instead be about “you, you, you, you.”  

“Since the end of the Cold War in 1989, America has created about 51 million new jobs. I swear, I checked this three times. Even I couldn’t believe it,” he said. “What’s the score? Democrats, 50; Republicans, one,” Clinton said as the crowd roared.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) said, “Trump has spent the last four years spinning the block, trying to get back into a relationship with the American people. Bro, we broke up with you for a reason,” Jeffries said as the crowd erupted. “Been there, done that, we’re not going back!” he thundered.

Republican Geoff Duncan, Georgia’s former Lt. Gov.

Republican Geoff Duncan, Georgia’s former Lt. Gov., called on his fellow conservatives to cast Trump aside. “Let me be clear to my Republican friends at home watching: If you vote for Kamala Harris in 2024, you’re not a Democrat. You’re a patriot,” he said to applause.  Duncan said today’s Republican Party acts like “a cult worshiping a felon.”

Olivia Troye, former Trump White House national security advisor, said, “To my fellow Republicans: you aren’t voting for a Democrat, you’re voting for democracy. You aren’t betraying your party. You’re standing up for our country.” Troye called Trump “unhinged, dangerous and extreme.”

 Terrorists of January 6

Mississippi Congressman Bennie G. Thompson played a graphic video of the January 6 terrorists. “They did it to rob millions of Americans of their votes. They did it because Donald Trump couldn’t help losing. He lied about the election fraud. He called his conspiracy-led mob to Washington. He would rather subvert democracy than submit to it.”

“We win, or else this is Donald Trump’s America. Elections are about choice. Choose democracy, not political violence.

Sergeant Aquilino Gonell, a retired US Capitol Police Officer, said Trump betrayed him and other law enforcement by summoning protesters to the Capitol. He endorsed Harris for president. Although he “nearly died” on January 6, he said he would do it again to protect American democracy.

Oprah said, “When a house is on fire, we don’t ask about the homeowner’s race or religion. We don’t wonder who their partner is or how they voted. No, we try to do the best we can to save them. “

“And if the place happens to belong to a childless cat lady, we try to get that cat out, too.”

Stephanie Grisham, a former top Trump spokeswoman and former Arizonan, said, “Kamala Harris tells the truth, respects the American people, and has my vote.”

“Unlike my boss, I never wanted to stand at that podium and lie,” she said. “Behind closed doors, Trump mocks his supporters. He calls them basement-dwellers. “He has no empathy, no morals, no fidelity to the truth.”

Grieving parents

In a gut-wrenching moment at the convention, grieving parents Rachel Goldberg and Jon Polin recounted when Hamas kidnapped their son, Hersch, age 23 and blasted his arm off. When Rachel Goldberg tried to speak, she was overcome with emotion and laid her head on the podium.

She recovered and said,”That was 320 days ago. “Since then, we have lived on another planet.” Jon Polin, Hersh’s father, acknowledged the convention is political, “but needing our only son and all of the cherished hostages home is not a political issue. It is a humanitarian issue,” he said to loud applause.
