Independent expenditure committee enters the Ward 1 Democratic primary

Stealth Republican candidate Joe Flores, running as a fake Democrat in the Democratic Primary for Tucson City Council Ward 1, is the target of a new independent expenditure committee, Tucsonans for Democratic Leadership (major funding by the Pima County Democratic Party). The IE will have some billboards in Ward 1 and do some voter outreach, and is up with a new web site Payday Joe | A Payday Lender for City Council? (screen shot):

I say stealth Republican because Joe Flores has been spending time with Chris DeSimone and Joe Higgins from Inside Tucson Business Weekly on their right-wing talk radio show Wake Up Tucson, a frequent promoter of the Tucson Tea Party. Not something your average Democrat would be doing.

This is why the GOP did not put up its own candidate in Ward 1, which has a heavily Democratic voter registration edge. The GOP thought it could fool voters with a stealth Republican running as a fake Democrat (what, is this Wisconsin?). They think you're stupid. We know otherwise.

Time for you to tell the GOP what you think of them this week — ballots are being mailed on August 10 and early vote-by-mail begins on August 11.

The Pima County Democratic Party has endorsed the Democratic candidate in the Democratic primary, incumbent city councilwoman Regina Romero. Cast your vote for Regina Romero and return your ballots ASAP.
