Internecine Warfare within the AZGOP Continues to Distract the State Party and Disrupt Fundraising

I report with amusement and copious amounts of schadenfreude that the AZGOP remains in a state of civil war. The MAGA faction within the Republican Party – most especially within the Maricopa County Republican Committee – has been trying to purge their Arizona State Party Chairman Jeff DeWit, elected just 1 year ago now, for various perceived slights and disloyalty to the true religion of Trumpism.

Many Republicans do not know why a petition to remove AZGOP Chairman Jeff DeWit is being circulated at FireJeffDewit.com. 

Really? No kiddin’? Neither does anyone whose brain is not colonized by the MAGA/QAnon mind viruses… Unfortunately, only elected Republican PCs can sign the petition.

Please review the Below Facts:

On 12/31/23, the AZGOP released a letter stating “Arizona GOP Alarmed by Secretary Fontes’ Last-Minute, Politically Loaded Election Manual”. The letter admits that Fontes is untrustworthy, yet DeWit decided earlier in the year to authorize Fontes to run the Arizona Presidential Preference Election (PPE) instead of the Republican party administering the PPE with hand counting, paper ballot, precinct-level voting.

Please, please, please do this AZGOP! Yes! Have a totally clusterfucked precinct-level, hand counted only Presidential Preference Election statewide that won’t affect Democrats one tiny bit! That utter chaos would finally put paid to their fantasy solutions to elections delusions and disinformation in search of a problem. It makes me absolutely salivate to watch such an utter self-imposed catastrophe befall the Republican PPE this year!

You absolutely should waste 17 minutes of your life watching the litany of lies and delusions of lovely and charismatic spokesperson for the MCRC and notorious election denier, Shelby Busch, – part of the group of wackadoodles whose baseless accusations against fellow Republicans got Liz Harris expelled from the state legislature – rant and rave self-righteously about some obscure shit in a manner that is SURE to elect more Republicans in Arizona. She really gets down in the wacky weeds with the grievances against DeWit: it’s a truly amusing performance, and absolutely sure to get more people involved in the harmonious and productive working environment inside Arizona’s MAGA-infused Republican Party!

In April, DeWit improperly ran the Legislative District 13 meeting vote to nominate 3 Candidates to replace AZ House Representative Liz Harris after she was removed from the House. At that meeting, despite being members of the AZGOP Executive Committee, the Maricopa County Chair and First Vice Chair were illegally barred from entry. First Vice Chair Shelby Bush confirmed they were denied entry. When asked for a reason, the response “No Guests” was simply given. They are not guests but Officers of the County Party and AZGOP Executive Committee members. They have the responsibility in their capacity as County Party Officers to oversee the LD 13 election. See the AZGOP Bylaws.

Many Precinct Committeemen have been frustrated by the inability to have their calls and emails returned or even acknowledged by DeWit and his office saying:

• “He doesn’t communicate with any of the Republican PCs ever.”
• “Kelly Ward always returned my emails and phone calls but I have never gotten a response from Jeff Dewit”
• “The only communication we receive are fundraising emails.”
• “Many of us have been dismayed & shocked by not only the lack of leadership by AZGOP Chairman Jeff DeWit but by his outright abusive and hostile behavior to substantial numbers of our Republican Party.”
• “I used to be good friends with Jeff. We aren’t friends anymore. He knows what he is doing is wrong.”
• “Jeff Dewit, you have totally ignored dozens of attempts over the last ten months (and that’s only from individuals I personally know) to reach you by e-mail, phone and texts.”

One is practically deafened by the din of so many axes being ground by all the weirdos and hacks who have been allowed to infest the AZGOP up and down the party structure.

Boy, do these folks ever seem laser-focused on winning races, and not on their totally distracting internal political wars and personal spats and grievances. I’m shaking in my boots contemplating how effective the AZGOP is going to be electing candidates in perhaps the most important swing state in the nation this year. Hah!
