Jerry Sheridan Belongs to a Fringe Group of Rogue-Far Right Extremists “Vowing to Take the Law into Their Own Hands”

Want more reasons to not vote for Jerry Sheridan as the next Maricopa County Sheriff?

Watch this documentary from Australia’s Special Broadcasting Service and prepare to be afraid. Very afraid.

While none of this is very surprising to political and legal observers who have followed Mr. Sheridan’s career, one does have to wonder if the Republican Sheriff Nominee, his family, and associates thought this would only air in Australia, outside of the view of Arizonans residing in Maricopa County.

The documentary starts with the Australian journalist Darren Mara at Jerry Sheridan’s ranch while the Sheriff nominee is riding his horse like a cowboy and firing off a machine gun at a target. It introduces him as one of “A fringe group of Anti-Government Sheriffs is injecting itself directly into this political fight, vowing to take the law into their own hands.”

Calling themselves ‘Constitutional Sheriffs,’ these fringe and rogue ‘law enforcement’ individuals think, along the lines of those who believe in Replacement Theory, that the government is going after whites and “Destroying the County and our Constitution.”

Saying “Our country was founded on two principles, the freedom of speech, freedom and liberty, and the guns to make sure nobody takes that away from us (the viewer should wonder who Sheridan thinks is us)” while showing off his impressive collection of firearms (including three machine guns,) the Maricopa County Sheriff Nominee said, “Some people collect coins. Others collect dolls. I collect guns.”

He said “No one would take advantage of the Sheridan Family and if I’m the Sheriff, no one is going to take advantage of my citizens” with his firearm arsenal when Mr. Mara asked what would happen “If America went to Hell in a hand basket.”

With Mara telling viewers that elected Sheriffs are “Largely unaccountable and difficult to remove from office,” he noted that Sheridan believes that as Sheriff:

“He adheres to a fringe Anti-Government ideology that the Sheriff holds ultimate power in their county and is not answerable to any federal authority including the President.”

Scary stuff.

Talk about giving the lunatics the key to the asylum. Especially, lunatics who really believe what they are saying.

It gets scarier.

Sheridan comments:

“We seem to be getting less and less freedoms because of the tyranny of the federal government enacting all kinds of laws like taxation generally, the EPA laws, or when we had COVID in 2020. There were a lot of government mandates to wear masks. To close down restaurants. As a Constitutional Sheriff, I would not enforce those (in his opinion) Unconstitutional Mandates.”

“The Constitutional Sheriff will make sure that our elections are free to all people and that they’re not corrupted in any way. And so, if the sheriff finds corruption in the election system, the Sheriff can actually do something and arrest people.”

Be afraid. Be very afraid. One can easily envision Mr. Sheridan, if elected Sheriff, attempting to transform the Maricopa County Department into his own personal Brown Shirt Squad intimidating voters.

Later in the documentary, there was a portion devoted to masked and armed poll watchers who seemed to scare off some people who were dropping off their ballots.

Imagine what might happen if a Sheridan Sheriff’s Department felt it had the license to openly monitor polling stations across the county.

Again, scary stuff.

More scary was the family dinner at the Sheridans where they expressed their frustration with the state of the country.

Mr. Sheridan said the people “Were done with the liberal left that wants to turn the United States of America into a Socialist country.”

His wife criticized Paul Penzone for calling illegal immigrants “Guests,” and “We have an invasion and there’s nothing else you can call it on our Southern Border. It’s time for this country to take stuff back.”

One should have asked Mrs. Sheridan: What stuff is she talking about?

When asked if he thought people would take up arms against the government, Sheridan said, “I hope it doesn’t come to that,” and then proceeded to read the words of the Second Amendment written on his drinking glass, saying “So our Founding Fathers knew someday that this country would go down the road that they didn’t want it to but they wanted to keep their citizens armed so it would never happen.”

Later, Mr. Sheridan campaigned to his base, people at a gun-amo range, including former Graham County Sheriff Richard Mack, who think the 2020 Presidential election was stolen, the Constitution is “On its death bed,” “We won’t survive Kamala Harris,” and Democrats want to take their guns away.

Like they can point to an instance where Democratic Presidents Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, or Joe Biden took guns away from any law-abiding citizen. Gun safety and violence prevention measures are not the same as blanket confiscation of firearms.

Mack also founded the “controversial group,” The Constitutional Sheriff and Peace Association.

Do you really want these people in charge of saying what is legal and what is not?
