John McCain throws gas on the fire

Screenshot-11Much of the world has headlines like this in the last 24 hours: N. Korea uncertain; region gets jitters over Kim Jong Il's death:

It was the scenario strategists from Beijing to Washington worried about: Kim Jong Il of North Korea dies suddenly, before the isolated regime can complete a transfer of power to his young son and rejoin disarmament talks with the United States.

With news Monday of Kim's death, the impoverished country known to be pursuing nuclear weapons plunged further into uncertainty, raising risks for the region.

Neighbors worry that political maneuvering in Pyongyang could spill over into missile launches or other aggression, though analysts give such acts a low probability. Tens of thousands of American troops are stationed in South Korea and Japan in this heavily armed, jittery corner of the world. China wants to keep its socialist neighbor stable – and avoid a flood of refugees[.]

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said Monday that the United States is still looking for better relations with the North Korean people despite the "evolving situation" there.

North Korea watchers are focused on the now abbreviated succession, looking for signs of whether the Workers Party and military will rally around Kim Jong Un or whether challenges will arise.

Into this delicate diplomatic dance steps loud-mouthed bomb thrower John McCain. This fool does not realize, or care, that North Korea is built upon a cult of "Dear leader," Kim Jong Il is a demigod in their culture. Emotions are running pretty high in North Korea right now. McCain also does not realize, or care, that thousands of artillery pieces are aimed at Seoul, South Korea that could literally reduce the city to smoldering rubble. Not to mention U.S. troops stationed along the DMZ. Oh, and did I forget to mention that North Korea has nuclear weapons?

Nothing like throwing gas on the fire, is there Johnny? AFP: McCain says Kim Jong-Il in 'warm corner of hell':

US Senator John McCain voiced satisfaction Monday that late North Korean leader Kim Jong-Il is "in a warm corner of hell" and called for efforts to bring an end to his family's regime.

"The world is a better place now that Kim Jong-Il is no longer in it," McCain said.

"I can only express satisfaction that the Dear Leader is joining the likes of Kadhafi, bin Laden, Hitler and Stalin in a warm corner of hell," he said in a statement.

We should be thankful every day that this loud-mouthed bomb thrower was not elected president.

President Barack Obama's administration has been cautious in public statements about Kim's death, calling for a "peaceful and stable" transition as the regime moved to appoint Kim's young son Kim Jong-Un as his successor.
