Az Blue Meanie and other writers have already reported on the first of Kari Lakes flip flops on a woman’s reproductive freedom this week when she imitated Bill Clinton to a reporter by saying abortions should be “safe, legal, and rare.”
She also applied the current bull fecal matter Republican parrot line toward her opponent, Secretary of State Katie Hobbs, saying that the Democratic Gubernatorial nominee favored allowing abortions up until birth.
Part of the headline in Laurie Robert’s October 5 column says it all: “Somebody must be reading the polls.”
Responding to a request for comment from Blog for Arizona, Secretary Hobb’s replied to Kari Lake’s first flip-flop and accusation toward her by stating:
“The decision to have an abortion should be between a woman and her doctor. Period. Politicians have no place in this deeply personal medical decision. The reality in Arizona right now is that women do not have access to abortion at all. Our priority needs to be overturning this draconian 1901 ban and restoring access to safe and legal abortion.”
Yesterday (October 5, 2022,) the Trump Republican Nominee, perhaps after hearing and reading lots of venomous comments from her science denying-anti equality and Democratic fringe base, flip-flopped back to her original position on a woman’s right to choose with a campaign spokesperson said that Ms. Lake supported both the 1901 law and the 15-week ban (without exceptions for rape, incest, or the viability of the fetus after birth) passed by the Republican legislature and signed by Governor Ducey.
Josselyn Berry, a spokesperson for the ArizonaDemocratic Party, reacted to the Lake full circle flip flops by commenting in a party statement:
“When Lake says she has no interest in changing the current law she is saying she has no interest in allowing exceptions for rape or incest. She supports jailing doctors. She has no worries about blocking women from life-saving medication or cancer treatments. She has no concern for Arizona women, period.”
On November 8, 2022, if people want a Governor that wants to make Arizona a real-life example of The Handmaid’s Tale, Brave New World, 1984, and It Can’t Happen Here, then Kari Lake and her like-minded dangerous, and extreme Trump Republican down-ballot individuals (Mark Finchem, Abe Hamadeh, Tom Horne, Kimberly Yee, and all the other federal and local candidates) are the people to choose.
If however, people want a Governor that will move the state forward, lift people up, keep communities safe, protect Democracy, work to fully fund public schools, combat change and the water shortage with strategies based on scientific facts, and safeguard women’s rights to privacy and safe reproductive freedom, then Katie Hobbs and the Democrats down ballot like Adrian Fontes, Kris Mayes, Kathy Hoffman, Martin Quezada, and all the other federal and local candidates are the ones to vote for on November 8, 2022.
