Fuming with disgust at Felon in Chief Donald Trumps blanket pardon of the over 1500 January 6, 2021 Domestic Terrorists, Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes and other Democratic Leaders and Activists vented their condemnation at this attack on police officers and law and order.

In an office press release, Attorney General Mayes wrote:
“The violent attack on our nation’s Capitol on January 6, 2021, was not just an assault on the rule of law—it was an assault on the brave men and women who put themselves in harm’s way to protect us all. President Trump’s decision to pardon these violent criminals is the most anti-law enforcement action that any President of the United States has ever taken. It is a reckless act that endangers our communities and undermines the efforts of police officers across the country.”
“How can the American people trust the new administration to stand with law enforcement when it chooses to pardon individuals who attacked cops? Releasing these criminals back on our streets sends a dangerous message that political violence and assaults on police officers will be excused and forgiven. These were not peaceful protesters, and they were not ‘hostages’—they are violent criminals who destroyed property and violently assaulted police officers.”
“As the chief law enforcement officer in the state of Arizona, I will always stand with the brave men and women in uniform who risk their lives to keep us all safe.”

Kate deGruyter, the Senior Communications leader at Third Way commented:
“President Trump sent a clear message with his reprehensible pardons of violent felons who ruthlessly attacked police and threatened officials in both parties: he cares more about keeping violent extremists like the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers happy than keeping America safe and holding criminals accountable. Those pardons are an insult to the men and women who risk their life every day to protect our Capitol. Trump is siding with attackers and lawbreakers over law enforcement.”

In Congress, Democrats were quick to pounce on Republicans who either supported the pardons, were silent in their reaction, or openly cheered the Trump decision.
Democratic Senate Leader Chuch Schumer called the pardons “UnAmerican.”
House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries posted on Threads:
“House Republicans are celebrating pardons issued to a bloodthirsty mob that violently assaulted police officers on January 6, 2021. What happened to backing the Blue? Far right extremists have become the party of lawlessness and disorder. Don’t ever lecture America again. About anything.”
Massachusetts Representative Jim McGovern called out Texas Representative Chip Roy on the House Floor for claiming his support for law and order when he waited with January 6 insurrectionist supporters outside the D.C. jails, cheering for their release.
Maryland Representative Jamie Raskin called out Republicans in a Committee hearing for “pretending to support the rule of law” while supporting Trumps pardoning the insurrectionists who assaulted Capitol Police Officers.

To be fair, there has been a few Republicans like Senators Lisa Murkowski, Thom Tillis, and Bill Cassidy who have voiced their objections to the Trump pardon of the January 6 Domestic Terrorists.
Unfortunately, those examples of decency were the exception rather than the rule in a political party that increasingly swears fealty to one person rather than the Constitution and seems content to believe in law and order only when it applies to protecting their supporters and prosecuting their foes.
