The Arizona Daily Star reports, Pima County Dems nominate 3 for empty state House seat:

Pima County Democrats have backed three candidates to fill a seat vacated by Rep. Andrea Dalessandro, who resigned two weeks ago to take an appointment in the Senate.

Dalessandro was appointed to the Senate by the Pima County Board of Supervisors to fill a seat vacated by former State Senator Lina Lopez, who resigned in January.

The three nominees are:

– Demion Clinco, president of the Tucson Historic Preservation Foundation

– Annabelle Nuñez, an associate librarian at the Arizona Health Sciences Library at the University of Arizona.

– Miguel Cuevas, a former TUSD school boardmember

The Pima County Board of Supervisors will pick from among the three finalists during its next meeting on Tuesday morning. The board’s choice will finish the remainder of Dalessandro’s term. The two-year term expires at the end of the year.

If you have any input about these candidates and their qualifications to serve in the AZ State House, contact the five members of the Pima County Board of Supervisors before Tuesday:

District 1 Ally Miller
District 2 Ramon Valadez
District 3 Sharon Bronson, Chair
District 4 Ray Carroll
District 5 Richard Elias, Vice Chair

The Board of Supervisors will make their choice at the next regular meeting on Tuesday, February 4.

  1. Anabelle Nunez is very well qualified for this position, based on my knowledge of her while we both served on the Independent Citizens Committee in TUSD. She is bright, knowledgable, community minded and creative. We could use these traits in our legislature.

  2. Annabelle Nunez for LD2 and STRONGLY OPPOSE Miguel Cuevas. We don’t need another Blue Dog representing us.

  3. Both LD 2 State Senator Andrea Dalessandro and House Rep. Rosanna Gabaldon informed me they are endorsing Annabelle Nunez for this appointment.
