Legal experts agree that the Red Queen, Governor Jan Brewer, cannot run for a third term despite what her court jester Joe Kanefield says, nor her publicist Howard Fischer, who constantly reassures the queen that she is the fairest queen of all whenever she consults her magic media mirror.
The man who would be king, Ken "Birther" Bennett, agrees that the Red Queen cannot serve a third term (quite self-serving). Can Jan run for governor again? Bennett, Brewer disagree – East Valley Tribune.
So what's a lame duck queen to do? Road trip! The Red Queen departed on Sunday for a double super-secret road trip for which her press flak Matthew Benson declined to discuss any details. Brewer out of state; aide won't provide details.
The Arizona Republic(an) reported that Brewer met with a wounded Arizona soldier at a hospital in Washington, D.C., yesterday.
But today we learn the real reason for all this double super-secrecy. Bloomberg News reports Jan Brewer: Where in the World?:
Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer, who left her state for an undisclosed destination on Dec. 2, is visiting Arizona soldiers in Afghanistan, according to a person familiar with the governor’s schedule.
The Republican governor’s absence was noticed yesterday when she didn’t attend the state’s official election canvass. Brewer’s office filed a routine notice with Secretary of State Ken Bennett that she would be out of the state until Dec. 8, leaving him as acting governor, according to Matt Roberts, a spokesman for the secretary.
“The governor is out of state on official business,” Matthew Benson, Brewer’s spokesman, said in a telephone interview. “That’s all I can disclose at this time.”
The "official business" of the Governor of Arizona is visiting troops in Afghanistan? (She has never done so before). Or does this have more to do with this speculative post at the Huffington Post on Monday? Jan Brewer Western Governors Association Keynote Speech Draws Only Two Colleagues:
Speculation over Brewer's political future is currently a hot topic in Arizona. Though she will technically be term-limited in 2014 after serving an entire term — as well as part of the term of her predecessor, former Democratic Gov. Janet Napolitano, whom President Barack Obama took to Washington, D.C. to be Homeland Security Secretary — there has been talk of Brewer mounting a legal battle in order to run again. Brewer has also been included in a list of Republicans who may be positioning themselves for a presidential run in 2016. Politico reported on Monday that she had met with billionaire casino mogul and powerful GOP donor Sheldon Adelson during a recent trip to Las Vegas.
That POLITICO story actually reported 2016 contenders court mega-donors:
POLITICO has learned that Govs. Jindal of Louisiana, Kasich of Ohio and McDonnell of Virginia ventured over to the Venetian for separate private meetings with Sheldon Adelson while they were in Las Vegas for the Republican Governors Association winter meeting, held last month at the rival Wynn Resort.
So, too, did a pair of governors not considered presidential aspirants — Rick Scott of Florida, who is up for reelection in 2014, and Jan Brewer of Arizona, who will be term-limited out of office.
So, the Red Queen is groveling at the feet of Billionaire casino owner Sheldon Adelson who pumped $150 million of his own foreign Macao casino money into the 2012 presidential election and promises to double that next time — if he can avoid the feds and the state of Nevada who are currently investigating him, and he does not die from old age before then, Sheldon Adelson Vows To 'Double' Donations To GOP After Huge 2012 Election Failure — and she is taking overseas trips to visit the troops in Afghanistan.
This sounds very much like someone exploring running for the GOP nomination for president in 2016.
Lord help us!
