Mayes for AG Campaign Unveils Three New Ads Ripping Opponent Petersen’s Record and Showing Bipartisan Support for Her

The Kris Mayes for Attorney General Re-Election Campaign has unveiled three new ads over the last week, showing bipartisan support for her campaign and ripping the record of her opponent, Warren Petersen.

In the “Pay to Play Petersen” ad, the Mayes Campaign showcased the Republican nominee’s ties (allegiance) to plutocratic corporate interests like landlords and for-profit prisons while voting against helping Arizonans with Pre-Existing Medical conditions to get health care.

Commenting on the new ad in a press release, Mayes for AG Campaign Manager Delaney Corcoran wrote:

“Warren Petersen wants to be Arizona’s Attorney General, but his record tells you exactly who he works for: special interests and big, greedy corporations. He’s spent 14 years in the Legislature standing with powerful interests while Arizona families are left behind. Now he wants the power to enforce Arizona’s laws. Follow the money, look at his record, and look at the criminals he chooses to stand with instead of Arizona families. It’s all right there.”

In an ad called “The Only No,” released today (October 12), the Mayes Campaign went after Petersen’s 13-year attack on health care for Arizonans, including his support of the Big Billionaires First Bill that deprives 342,000 Arizonans of health care and could close five Grand Canyon State Rural Hospitals.

The ad ends with the telling line, “Peterson kept his government healthcare, but he voted to take it away from the people who needed it most.”

Commenting on this ad, Ms. Corcoran said in a campaign press release:

“Warren Petersen has spent 13 years using his power to go after Arizonans who need health care protections most. He voted against coverage for working families, stood alone against protecting people with pre-existing conditions, and blocked a bipartisan effort to hold insurance companies accountable. Now he’s backing a plan that would rip coverage away from hundreds of thousands of Arizonans. That’s not leadership. It’s an extreme agenda that puts vulnerable people at risk while Petersen keeps his own government-sponsored health care.”

The final ad, released late last week, showed Arizona Republican figures former Republican Scottsdale Mayor Sam Campana, former Maricopa County Republican Supervisor Andy Kunasek, and former Republican Mesa Vice Mayor Claudia Walters throwing their support to Attorney General Mayes’s re-election campaign by highlighting her fight against crime.

Commenting on this ad, Ms. Corcoran offered:

“Attorney General Kris Mayes understands that being Attorney General means being the lawyer for all Arizonans, regardless of their party or who they voted for. She doesn’t ask whether you’re a Republican, Democrat, or independent before she fights for you. Meanwhile, Warren Petersen has spent his career putting partisan politics first. These Republican leaders know the difference between an Attorney General who works for the people and a politician who puts politics first.”

  1. Powerfully effective. Now if national Democrats would attack the Repug Party over their “Big Beautiful Bill”, pointing how OBSCENE it is to deny health care to millions just to give the wealthy underserved tax breaks while tying all the individual Repugs who voted for it we just may get veto-proof/impeachment majorities in both houses of Congress.

    • Dems have donors that like the BBB.

Which is the same reason Dems don’t really push to overturn Citizen’s United.

This week I learned that Dem congressional committee assignments are given out based on how much money a Dem can raise.

Committee assignments are tied to how much money one can send back to their district and your influence on bills.

So the more you compromise yourself, the more you can compromise yourself.

It’s a Möbius strip of corruption.

      • For the past few decades, through primaries, the Repugs systematically purged their party of the sane ones. We don’t have a few decades to purge our party of corporate Democrats but it needs to happen. Corporate Democrats are the reason the myth of there being no difference between the two parties persists. Starting the Bush the Lesser look where that’s gotten the country!
